Publisher's Summary

In this truly inspirational audio book, Anita Moorjani relates how, after fighting cancer for almost four years, her body began shutting down - overwhelmed by the malignant cells spreading throughout her system. As her organs failed, she entered into an extraordinary near-death experience (NDE) where she realized her inherent worth... and the actual cause of her disease. Upon regaining consciousness, Anita found that her condition had improved so rapidly that she was released from the hospital within weeks - without a trace of cancer in her body!

Anita had been pushed and pulled by cultural and religious customs since she was a little girl. After years of struggling to forge her own path while trying to meet everyone else’s expectations, she had the realization, as a result of her epiphany on the other side, that she had the power to heal herself... and that there are miracles in the Universe that she’d never even imagined.

In Dying to Be Me, Anita freely shares all she has learned about illness, healing, fear, “being love,” and the true magnificence of each and every human being!

Rocked my world and brought me back to life

I reached out for this powerful book during a very challenging time in my life. Every word was like a tonic, and I resonated with so much of the author, Anita Moorjani's story. Her profound journey from a child to a young woman finding her way in a culture where she could not find her own voice and follow her own path was riveting as told in her own beautiful narration. To have such a transformative life event of coming back to a complete healing after a long time suffering from the debilitating disease we all fear so much is astounding. Anita chose life. Listening to her beautiful voice as I took my morning walks around the lake, brought my spirit back to life too. This was life-changing and I highly recommend adding this to any audio-library. I can imagine reading the book would be powerful but listening to the author tell her story invited me in as if she was telling this to me for my own personal healing in my time of despair. Thank you #Audible1

So very real and makes one question dogma.

Anita is a woman with a real non bullshit story on what the hell life is about. I think every child should read it so as to remember not to lose themselves and follow what they know to be true. It can save people much heartache and in this case, debilitating cancer too.

Thought provoking!

this book was recommended during a reading with an aboriginal medium. Worth the read and a lot of what was shared, I know my mother would have echoed the same sentiments, if she were still here. ❤

beautiful book

She, very beautifully explained the way/idea of living a healthy life. She explained the internal cause of disease . that no body tells us. Her NDE experience is just like reaching at an ultimate height and looking down into everybody life and explained what foolishness we all are going through. How to escape from this cycle of ,getting fool by ourself and the society

Resonated!

I loved the book! My middle name is Anita. I felt Anita was writing my story. Struggling with healing my physical and emotional health for over 20 years, fear and anxiety blocked me. Anita's description of her NDE as pure bliss, no fear, no judgement, no self loathing awakened something in me. I felt like her description allowed me to be ok with being myself. There is no need to please others. It's ok to say no. Love myself unconditionally. I highly recommend this book to anyone seeking to heal emotional wounds.

Thank you.

Listening to Anita's story for me was healing. I am not able to read as effectively as listening because I often get distracted. But hearing a person speak - and talk about their experiences, makes their message easier to understand. The time spent listening to Anita's story was the best medicine I have taken to date. I am no longer afraid of what my oncologist is going to tell me about my recent ct scan - and whether cancer has returned.

Inspiring and Full of Great Love

I was lead to this book by Wayne Dyer while listening to “Wishes Fulfilled”. I am so thankful that I followed hat prompting! This book is full of such love, and so inspiring to live this life to the fullest! The accounts of Anita’s NDE were detailed beautifully, and the intimate view of life after was deeply inspiring. Listen closely to how she speaks of looking at herself in the mirror, and the vow she makes to herself.... life changing! Thank you Anita.... this book matters deeply!

Inspiring And Comforting Account Of Death

Would you listen to Dying to Be Me again? Why?

Yes, but only the part about her description of her near death experience. I found the rest of the book to be preachy and full of platitudes.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Anita was pretty much the only character.

Have you listened to any of Anita Moorjani’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No I haven't.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No.

Any additional comments?

Overall this is well worth getting. Anita's beautiful description of her near death experience alone is worth buying it for. I thought it was weird that so many reviews mentioned her exception command of the English language, but as I listened I found myself appreciating it as well. Her description of the event is incredible. The rest of the book was too vague, new age, and full of platitudes for me, but the first half more than made up for that. This is well worth getting.

SImply Amazing

I attended a Wayne Dyer lecture last year and he spent alot of time talking about Anita's story. I got home and watched her youtube interviews and couldn't wait to get the book. I purchased the Kindle edition and read it while waiting for an audiobook. I do not write reviews on books, but I feel this is some of the most important work to come out in a long time. Anyone wanting to understand and discover who and what we really are, and the root cause of our problems need to read this book. Anita simplifies a very complex concept, and masterfully tells of the pain and discovery she experienced in her life. Her explanation of parallel lives and the reason we think in successive lives is masterfully done. I have read this and now listened 3 times. This has become a staple of my collection.

For all who experience a major illness

An arresting near death experience told with brilliant insight and perspective, Dying to Be Me is not merely one woman's story, but a story about and for many of us who have faced or are facing life-threatening illness. The understanding Mrs. Moorjani gained can help all of us look to ourselves for answers about our illness. She explains how our views of ourselves determine our emotional and physical states of being, including determining our place on the illness/wellness continuum.

This is a remarkable book for its honesty, clarity, and for its respectfulness and depth of understanding on a subject often veiled with misunderstanding and confusion. The topic of near death experiences or NDE, is often rejected by the scientific community for lack of methodically obtained evidence to prove its occurrence. While proof of Ms. Moorjani's NDE may not be possible, her rapid healing response following it, which was documented, could not have been explained by the chemotherapy she received.

It is true that while she experienced organ failure, her body was supported by fluids and other palliative measures. However, while her cure does not prove that her NDE was the sole or even major cause of her rapid cure, there is as yet no other explanation for the fact that she went from being assumed by the doctors as comatose and all but dead to becoming conscious and cured.

I went from completely doubting that any NDE could actually result in healing from cancer to realizing there are many things that science lacks the means to explain. In addition, what Ms. Moorjani wrote will help many others feel empowered to take charge of their illness and look into ways their views of themselves are determining aspects of their illnesses or their responses to their illness.

What if......?

I listened to this book twice. There is a vast cavern of insight and once just wasn't enough to process it all. There are other books out there describing 'Near Death Experience' , but this one can be verified - - including an ultimate cancer recovery from the brink of death - - and the awareness of events happening beyond the body's resting place. I found this author to be credible and articulate. My favorite part of this book is the ending when she answers questions submitted to her. My truth resonated with each answer. I found myself repeating "yes" "yes" "yes!"

What if......all of humanity could adopt this type of consciousness? What if we could all suspend judgment and allow others to be who they are? What if we could abolish fear and the consequences of it?

I recommend this book to those with open minds.....or venturing into 'open mind territory'.

Very Insightful!

What did you love best about Dying to Be Me?

This is a really good audio book. Moorjani's experience really makes me reflect deeply on the way my thoughts, which generate emotions, effect my health and my perception of my life. Her experience of the "after-life" or non-local realm or heaven or whatever term you want to use gave me a lot to think about. It certainly put a different perspective on these things than I had heard before. I found it fascinating.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dying to Be Me?

Her understanding that instead of past lives, we are living parallel lives- with everything happening at once.

What do you think the narrator could have done better?

The question and answer section sometimes didn't flow linearly, which was disorienting at times.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was very moved by the fact that Moorjani felt she wasn't meeting the expectations of her multi-cultures and how these expectations effected her long-term self-confidence and ultimately her health.

Any additional comments?

This is a fascinating book.

Engaging and Transforming

Where does Dying to Be Me rank among all the audiobooks you???ve listened to so far?

It ranks among the most unique to present a controversial topic in an authentic manner backing it up with science and experiential information.

What other book might you compare Dying to Be Me to and why?

The Secret and other type of books that endeavor to help people connect, but lead pretty much to "wishful thinking." "Dying to be Me" is different...I think it really comes closer than these other books to the key to this connection and releasing ourselves from disease and turmoil.

Have you listened to any of Anita Moorjani???s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I believe this is her first. : )

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There were many in terms how she said things and feeling within myself my own healing.

Literally Changed My LIfe

Would you consider the audio edition of Dying to Be Me to be better than the print version?

I love listening to Anita. Listening to her accent connected me more to her life and culture. She has such a lovely, calm way of speaking.

What did you like best about this story?

What Anita experienced was profound and I feel that her just sharing it with "me" lead me to some of the realizations she experienced without such drastic measures.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This book gave me hope and clarity.

Any additional comments?

I have already made huge changes in my life to allow it to be more about what I want and need and not what is expected of me. I continue to allow even more to come to me. "Allow" is my new favorite word.

worth reading

Any additional comments?

This book differs a bit from some of the other near-death stories so is worth reading. It's encouraging and uplifting and leaves one with a sense of control over their own destiny. Well worth consideration.

Good w some minor bumps

Narration was excellent besides a few early chapters sounding echoey, as if they we done in a plain room instead of a recording room. Overall a beautiful lesson and message birthed from a miracle. Some of the explanations in the beginning were long winded and too elaborate. I understand why and all... because language is limited in description for this even. It just made me feel like it was forced or unbelievable at points. (as in a description of anything that carried on as such would). I do believe this story, however. I really gained the most out of the last 1/3 to 1/2 of this book. It connected with me nicely and I am trying to be more accepting of myself and not to be as harsh. Thank you.

unique and inspiring

After having seen Anita's TED talk a while ago I wanted to know more about her truly unique experience - and got largely rewarded by listening to this book in her own voice which transpires all she has to say so well!
