Publisher's Summary

It’s never too soon to take your next breath.

Behind tinted windows a few yards from mourning family and friends, Jessica and Jude Day witness their parents’ funeral - and their own. Stripped of the only life they’ve ever known, the Days say goodbye to San Francisco forever.

Six months and two new identities later, the 30-year-old misfits with elite self-defense skills and penchants for alcohol, sex, and trouble arrive like an earthquake to Peaceful Woods, a retirement community in Omaha, Nebraska, that thrives on rules and gossip.

Welcome home, Jackson and Jillian Knight.

Jackson celebrates his new beginning by embracing his job and wiping his cavalier past clean with a temporary oath of celibacy. But Jillian’s past is branded into her soul - the deaths, the insanity, Dr. Luke Jones, and the need to make her lovers bleed.

Her chance for redemption comes in the form of a next-door neighbor, one senior master sergeant Monaghan. He’s sexy, dangerously alluring, and riddled with emotional issues from years of service. He’s also so damn grumpy.

Their mission is simple: let go, start over, don't kill anyone, and pray that nobody resurrects their past.

"This book is phenomenal! My favorite read of 2015. Don't read anything else about it. Just buy it. Now." (Ella James, USA Today best-selling author)

Where’s the plot?

The only suspense in this book you already know before you even start it from reading the blurb. Otherwise where is this story going? You get from the blurb that Jessica and Jude was it ? (Heck I can’t even remember the the brothers name before he changed it) is that their parents were killed in an accident and so did they. there was a funeral for all 4 family members. Except the brother and sister didn’t die. They faked their deaths and changed their names to Jillian and Jackson. AKA Jack and Jill. They move to homely town in Nebraska living as different identities. They are not to tell a soul. You get all that in the blurb and like first page. So many times I almost gave up this book, but I would go back to my Goodreads app and look up the reviews again and see if maybe I made a mistake and read reviews from a different book. Not likely, but I’m only human so I had a look and nope! I was reading the correct reviews. One reviewer in the top line up called this book“EPIC!!” Really? Epic? I would love to hear that persons thought on how this was Epic. It disappoints me because I think people will just put 5 stars so they don’t hurt anyone’s feelings. We literally don’t get a plot. All we get is Jillians sassy mouth and her need to make guys bleed when she has sex with them. Whether it’s a bite or a scratch. So the whole book is Jillian (aka Jessica) being bossy, crass, and horny. I only decided to finish it because again, looking at the reviews , several said the ending was more or less a draw dropping ending. So I kept listening and then I get to the end and.........NOTHING!. Just a couple little words at the end giving it something to think about. I will say though, the narrator did an excellent job reading this story. I would Recommend the audio version due to one narrator and several characters. When she would change her voice in different POV’s then you knew who the character was. I haven’t decided if I’ll read the next one yet. Definitely won’t right now, which I’m so bummed because I really was exited to start this series.

Unique and Unforgettable Love Story

“Sometimes emotions matter more than the right words, and if you overthink every word it’s like suffocating it until all the emotion is gone.”

The story and the concept surrounding this book absolutely blew my mind. A unique and dare I say crazy romance centered around twins forced to give up their lives in order to stay alive. The prologue hooked me in, my romantic suspense loving heart intrigued by the faked deaths and the mystery surrounding what lead to that point. Forced to change their names and upend their lives Jessica and Jude Day transform themselves into Jillian and Jackson Knight, but their underlying issues, loves and history still remains. This story had me laughing, crying and falling in love.

“You think you’re broken, but you’re not. And if you were … it wouldn’t matter. I love every. Single. Piece of you.”

I fell in love with every single character in this book (besides the jerk Agent Knox), a truly talented writer can make me love two men for a character, her past and present needing different love to heal her heart in different ways. And let me not forget the love shared between brother and sister, that unbreakable twin bond is something else entirely, taking care of each other no matter what.

My heart was so torn up over the intense and crazy love shared between Jessica and Luke. And subsequently the crazy passion shared between Jillian and AJ. My favorite thing about Jewel’s stories are her imperfect characters and the way she makes me fall for those imperfections and the crazy, unforgettable love that results.

In conclusion of book one - Two Words: LUKE JONES

Stefanie Kay’s narrative was just spot on for this story, she had a way of taking each character and portraying their unique personality perfectly. She made me fall even more in love with my favorite series.

Book 2 & 3 not available on audio.

Loved this book but, you have to buy printed books 2 & 3! Cliffhanger at the end and can't go on to book 2 unless I purchase it in print.

Love the story…

Don’t love the narrators voice for Ryn. The woman is 40 and she makes her sound 18. She does well for most everyone else, though.

Just okay

I am not entirely sure that my mediocre feelings on this one aren't all about my recent book-mood. Coming off a long week of starting and stopping books, I needed to stick with End of Day because of a challenge, so I may have been subconsciously resisting enjoying it. Whatever it was, I just never connected, and reading the blurb/reviews on the next book, I'm not sure that I'll be continuing on with the series.

The writing was good, I'm just really not a fan of the back and forth timelines. Also good narration, but (and this is for the rest of the series) if I continue on, I hope that we get dual narration when we get more involved with the other characters.

Must be love on the brain…

I enjoyed End of Day. I assumed there would be more suspense considering all the things I’ve heard about this series, and the spin off books I’ve read, but it is very much focused on Jessica/Jillian diving into and adjusting (sorta) to her new life with her twin brother Jude/Jackson. She’s having to let go of a past she finally started to love and live in and embrace this new reality of hers. It’s definitely difficult for her, but she finds sort of an outlet and a mirror in her new neighbor. She’s trying to be for him what someone else once was for her. It’s intriguing to me in that aspect, but I have a hard time seeing where this can go considering I have some spoilers since I read Out of Love first.

I will say the voice actress did a phenomenal job with this story. I tried to read this as an ebook at least four times and could not get past the first few chapters because I just can’t read 3rd POV. The voice actor had me engaged and brought the story to life for me. Can’t wait to read the next two books!

Perfection!

This book is absolute perfection in every way from the storyline to character development to emotional rollercoaster to the narration! I couldn’t love a book more!

A waste of a credit!

I tried to get through this book, I really did, but it was impossible. I can't get past the impression that this was written by a couple of 14 year old boys with no experience with women, relationships, or reality. A disappointment from the first word.

A bit hard to follow. Too much back and forth

I struggled to finish but overall the story held my interest. Will start next book in series.

Good story, narrator a bit too perky

I felt like a cheerleader was reading this to me and it was a little too hard to get past. The story was the only thing that kept me from returning the book but I don't think I'll listen to the next one if it's the same narrator.
