Gratitude
Gratitude. This is the quality that fills me after listening to these 7 truths. Gratitude for the Great Creator for creating the Indigenous Peoples of the world and the great traditions and stories they have kept throughout time and their generosity to share these with those who do not know and those who know. Beautiful and painful
Highly recommend this series. I am not an indigenous person - I want to learn more about these matters as a Canadian. It is our responsibility. Tanya tells a beautiful yet difficult heart wrenching set of stories which should be required listening / reading for all Canadians.

Please read this Informative and hopeful book
I started listening to this after the original 215 were unearthed. Its important to understand that this is still happening. Talaga presents these horrors with understanding and compassion. These are truths we all need to be educated about. Talaga also shares the hopes and promise of the indigenous people to come. This story is far from over.

Thunder Bay is the most racist town
I remember walking out from an under pass with my 1year old twin boys in their stroller, and a van had side door open and younger white men drove by and threw eggs at us.. They yelled "fucken dirty indians" I couldn't believe that actually happened when I had my innocent cute baby boys with me.. So yes it isn't surprising that Barbara ended up getting killed by one of these assholes
. you report everything that happens to you and police never follow up. This city has so much hate towards us aboriginals. I hated growing up here being my color. I always wanted to be white. Nowadays I am proud but it was a struggle to get to where I'm at. I hope by some miracle something changes with this.. I am afraid for my sons..Why do they hate us so much?

Truly brilliant and harrowing
I adored this book. As someone who is not native to Canada, the stories of the first nations people have surprised, shocked, dumfounded and hurt me. To hear of the resilience of these people as told by Tanya and her various co-speakers has been a beautiful reminder of the true power of the human spirit and more so of the people who are of the land and have so much care for it. The Anishnawbe people have a beautiful and long history with many dark times that they have faced, this booked allowed me to understand the depth of the intergenerational traumas and hope that they still have.
Thank you Tanya, this was awe inspiring.

A struggle
I was looking forward to this. Within 2 minutes, I had to quit listening. The dialect is inaudible.
