Story
Whenever we worry about what to eat, how to love, or simply how to be happy, we are worrying about how to lead a good life. No goal is more elusive. In How to Be a Stoic, philosopher Massimo Pigliucci offers Stoicism, the ancient philosophy that inspired the great emperor Marcus Aurelius, as the best way to attain it. Stoicism is a pragmatic philosophy that teaches us to act depending on what is within our control and separate things worth getting upset about from those that are not.

Story
The memoir of a neuroscientist whose research led him to a bizarre personal discovery, James Fallon had spent an entire career studying how our brains affect our behavior when his research suddenly turned personal. While studying brain scans of several family members, he discovered that one perfectly matched a pattern he’d found in the brains of serial killers. This meant one of two things: Either his family’s scans had been mixed up with those of felons or someone in his family was a psychopath.

Publisher's Summary
What if everything you ever wanted isn't what you actually want? Twenty-something, suit-clad, and upwardly mobile, Joshua Fields Millburn thought he had everything anyone could ever want. Until he didn't anymore.
Blindsided by the loss of his mother and his marriage, Millburn started questioning the life he had built for himself.
Then he discovered minimalism...and everything started to change.
Four years later, Millburn had embraced simplicity. In the search for something more substantial than compulsory consumption and the broken American dream, he jettisoned most of his material possessions, paid off loads of crippling debt, and walked away from his six-figure career.
Once everything was gone, what was left? Not a how-to book but a why-to book, Everything That Remains is the touching, surprising story of what happened when one young man decided to let go of everything and begin living more deliberately. Heart-rending, uplifting, and deeply personal, this engrossing memoir is peppered with insightful interruptions by Ryan Nicodemus, Millburn's best friend of 20 years.

Loved it.
I loved the documentary. Changed my life quite honestly. Set me on the path I am on now. I am a regular listener of their podcast so all I can say is I WISSSHHH so hard that Ryan and Joshua had narrated the book instead. I found it less captivating than I would if they had read it. But highly recommend. Love the writing. #Audible1

Good book, performance could be better
The story and composition are great, but the narrator put me to sleep. I really liked hearing the backstory of Joshua's life and the examples from the authors about trying minimalism are really inspiring. I listened to this while undergoing the minimalist process and I feel more productive than ever. Amazing book, would recommend.

The Minimalists’ beginnings
I really wish Joshua was the narrator as I find his TED Talk-tested voice much more engaging, otherwise this memoir is a great story of how The Minimalists began and, while they too were inspired by someone who embraced the concept, applied it to their lives for personal betterment. Everyone’s minimalism journey will be different and one must remember that there are no rules but helpful tips rather.

Great information narration is terruble
I almost returned this book for a refund because the narrator is just terrible. I stuck it out though because I thought the information on minimalism was great. It was nice to hear one man's journey into debt, minimalism and then debt free. The Journey was cool. The narrator on the other hand was just horrible. Very monotone. If the authors want some advise, don't use this narrator for any of your other books.

Easy to listen to
I found this book easy and enjoyable to listen to as we learned about the journey of the author's minimalism. The Narrator did a good job of sounding like he was speaking rather than reading. I found the material engaging and interesting.
