FROM NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLING AND AWARD-WINNING AUTHOR JANE HARPER COMES EXILES, A CAPTIVATING MYSTERY ABOUT A MISSING MOTHER

"Stephen Shanahan portrays Aaron Falk, who is in South Australia's wine country to attend his godson's christening. The dialogue and narrative flow naturally, infused with believable emotions that underscore Shanahan's grasp of the author's style."—AudioFile

“Once again Harper proves that she is peerless in creating an avalanche of suspense with intimate, character-driven set pieces...Harper’s legions of fans will exult in reading Exiles.”—David Baldacci, #1 New York Times bestselling author

"Harper’s fine prose and narrator Stephen Shanahan’s expert delivery combine for a transcendent Australian noir experience."—AudioFile on The Dry (Earphones Award Winner)

Federal Investigator Aaron Falk is on his way to a small town deep in Southern Australian wine country for the christening of an old friend's baby. But mystery follows him, even on vacation.

This weekend marks the one-year anniversary of Kim Gillespie's disappearance. One year ago, at a busy town festival on a warm spring night, Kim safely tucked her sleeping baby into her stroller, then vanished into the crowd. No one has seen her since. When Kim's older daughter makes a plea for anyone with information about her missing mom to come forward, Falk and his old buddy Raco can't leave the case alone.

As Falk soaks up life in the lush valley, he is welcomed into the tight-knit circle of Kim’s friends and loved ones. But the group may be more fractured than it seems. Between Falk’s closest friend, the missing mother, and a woman he’s drawn to, dark questions linger as long-ago truths begin to emerge. What would make a mother abandon her child? What happened to Kim Gillespie?

Ce que les critiques en disent

“Once again Harper proves that she is peerless in creating an avalanche of suspense with intimate, character-driven set pieces that are as exquisitely engineered as the inner workings of a Steinway. Harper’s legions of fans will exult in reading Exiles.”—David Baldacci, #1 New York Times bestselling author

“Another all-consuming mystery from Harper...Fans will relish Falk’s intuitive “spider sense” moments here, and they will be amazed at the simultaneously shocking and tender ending.”Booklist, starred review

“With this book, Harper may well have given her legions of readers exactly what they have been waiting for: a beautifully observed crime novel about regional life featuring the reticent and endearing federal policeman, Aaron Falk...Quietly and inevitably, the secrets and deceptions are unraveled as Falk finds himself deftly woven into the weft of this small community. In Exiles, Falk may at last have come home.”—Sydney Morning Herald

I love Jane Harper’s writing. Love her books. The story was great and the twist at the end was awesome

Love this

One of the few authors that I’ve read that truly gets into the grit, depth, tragedy and both sides of each story and character. Can’t wait to listen to another one of her books.

Another Best

I look forward to Jane Harper's new releases and I've never been let down. I enjoy the story line, the characters and the unpredictability of her novels. Exiles was no exception.
the first time I picked up one of her books was in an airport when I had finished the book I had brought with me and still needed one for the 6 hour flight home. I ended up not putting that book down till I had read it cover to cover.
I would recommend anyone of Jane Austin's books to friends, family and strangers.
sad to see a main character being retired. but enjoyed listening to this within 2 days.
loved the reader as well, could listen to an Australian accent all day.

love Jane Harper

It’s the kind of book you hate when it’s over. The narration as always was great. Waiting for the next one…

Loved it!

I have read the previous novels by this author and loved them. This one was not up to the same standard. I kept wondering when the tale would finally get going.

incredibly slow

I enjoy each and every experience of stepping into the many worlds that Ms. Harper creates. Her talent for making characters seem almost 4D is only matched by her ability to describe details in a way that allows you to feel as if it's a portrait of your own memory.

She's an automatic read for me. Unregrettably so.

Jane Harper does it again.

Excellent book! I have read all of hers and this was my second favourite after the Dry. I absolutely LOVE the narration as well!! Great story, great characters, great pacing. I’m so glad I bought this!!

My favorite since The Dry

Boy was I disappointed. It was like watching a Hallmark movie, sentimental, cloying, boring.

Wonderful characters, keen ability to describe a small town life all gone to waste

The reader should read a practice round first, so that he reads with an understanding of the meaning, not just bouncing along to the rhythm of his own voice.

Jane Harper turns to romance novels

Reader was very good...clear voice.....but most of time I thought I was reading a romance not a mystery
