Publisher's Summary
From New York Times best-selling author Alice Hoffman and master knitter Lisa Hoffman comes Faerie Knitting, a magical melding of words and yarn where the ordinary is turned into the extraordinary and where imagination becomes creation.
The magic of storytelling and the magic of knitting - woven together in 14 original patterns inspired by each story.
“How fairy tales are told and remembered has a great deal in common with knitting traditions. It is no mistake that we describe storytelling as knitting a tale, or weaving a story, or spinning a yarn.” (Alice Hoffman, from the Introduction of Faerie Knitting)
Featuring 14 original fairy tales, Faerie Knitting is an entrancing collection of stories of love and loss, trust and perseverance. Seamlessly woven into the plot of each tale is a magical garment or accessory inspired by the bravery and self-reliance of the tale’s heroine and brought to life through an imaginative and bespoke knit pattern.
From the "Blue Heron Shawl" and the "Love Never Ending Cowl", to the "Three Wishes Mittens" and "Amulet Necklace", each project is as wearable as it is magical. Lush, atmospheric photography captures the enchanted faerie domain while beautifully rendered charts and instructions are well suited for beginner and advanced knitters alike.
Faerie Knitting is a rare gift for creators - and lovers - of magic.

lacking PDF file
haven't listened to the book yet. I am annoyed that the knitting patterns did not get added to the audible library as suggested.

Half the book so I can only give half my opinion :(
The stories were quite classic and wooly inspired- I was wholly bummed when the PDF that should be “attached “ was MIA ? Idk , still hoping for it to be someplace on this audible file I’ve missed ? Then I can give an honest opinion of the whole book . I can think of quite a few great patterns to rise and repress each tale ... where are they 😬 :(((

Beautiful Book and Patterns
I was introduced to this book when a patron at my library placed a hold on it. After browsing the various patterns and accompanying tales, I knew I had to add it to my collection of fairy tale books. I chose the Audible version because not only could I listen to it and I could keep the patterns on my computer for when I have time to attempt them.
Unlike the other reviewers, I had no issue accessing the included PDF of patterns.
As for the audiobook, I find Ms. LaVoy's reading to be very pleasant with good inflection and clear speaking full of emotion.
No regrets here.

Charming Faerie Tales with a motif of Knitting
A lovely series of faerie tales that all involve knitting natural fibers into a magical shawl or object that helps the heroine, or hero.
The reader doesn’t get into the characters, which would make the stories even better, but the stories are charming anyway.

very disappointed.
The play stopped with 53 minutes left and no PDF available. I normally don't write bad reviews and have never given a 1-star rating before.
after removing and downloading it, I was able to finish listening. However, I still have no clue how to get the patterns. still only has a 1-star rating.

Disappointing
This is a very very good writer who “phoned it in” regarding any complexity of story that she normally would apply to her own work. I was quite disappointed. The stories could have been interesting if there had been any kind of work on their depth. These were amateurish and surprisingly boring for this writer.
