Summary

When local farmer, Joe, finds his town overrun with foreign soldiers, he immediately begins to stockpile his produce, preparing for what might come. Workers arrive to take over the running of his farm, but he eventually discovers something more sinister at play. 

On the other side of the country, Cal is facing his own problems and must make a difficult decision that could put his life in danger.

this was a great series. for the people complaining, the series is free. I finished this entire series in 3 days. it kept me listening.

This wasnot asgood as book1, though the plot did improve near the end. I am going to wait to get book 3 until it's on sale.

I enjoyed the writing in this book but found it easy to predict. The characters remain fairly simple but the world-building is quite complex and consistent. The narrator does a decent job but some characterizations are inconsistent.

I really liked the characters in the first book and how they were written, but the plot itself was guessed hours ago. Pro American Patriot anti communist propaganda at best. Lame and lazy at worst . Subplots don't resolve or excavate they just exist . basic and boring.

Narration is great. Story is pretty basic and kinda racist.
