About this listen

The Fens are burning, and Detective Nikki Galena faces a cat-and-mouse battle with a killer arsonist. Someone is lighting fires. First they target homes and businesses, but then a body is found at one of the crime scenes. More fires are lit. And at each one a single person dies. But the victims have led spotless lives, and apparently there's no connection between them.

I thought perhaps I might be finished with Nikki and Joseph, but I was wrong. I also thought I had the culprit figured out half way through this book. I was wrong again. Appreciate the way the layers of the characters are revealed, and especially the 2 main characters. And Rory is perfectly played. Thoroughly enjoyed it beginning to end and on to the next one. I may even listen to all of them a second time.

I’m a truck driver and Ms Ellis’s books make the long haul seem shorter, great way to while away the hours without breaking concentration on the road.

I think I have listened to 18 Joy Ellis' books. Loved them all. I like how the characters carry through from book to book.

This book is about an arsonist. This fire bug graduated to locking people in buildings and setting fire to them.

The characters, including DI Galena’s team, are well written and make the book work. Joy Ellis write the plot well thought out and suspenseful.

I recommend the DI Nikki Galena books.

The characters were interesting, the twists and turns in the story kept me going, and the relationships between characters kept me emotionally involved. Joy Ellis did it again! So I must go on to Book 10: Darkness on the Fens!

I enjoy the whole series but this one was my favorite so far as the story line was more removed from the main characters yet brought the main characters into the story in a stronger way. Cannot think of a different way to say what I mean without giving the storyline away!
