Publisher's Summary

Don't believe in love at first sight? He'll make you believe.... Come back to Vermont and to this USA Today best-selling series!

Skye Copeland is on paid leave from her broadcasting job after accidentally drawing a pecker on the traffic map. Let that sink in. Like it's her fault the traffic pattern that day created a perfect schlong?

Skye isn't laughing. She needs this job. And that's the only reason she's agreed to chase down a story in her least favorite place - that hell on earth known as Vermont. A quick trip. In and out. Much like - never mind.

Skye can sneak into the town that once tried to break her, get the story and get back into the good graces of her producer. Easy peasy. Except things go sideways even as she sets foot over the county line.

Her step-sister is on the run from a violent drug dealer. And the cop on the case is none other than Benito Rossi, the man who broke her teenage heart. His dark brown eyes still tear her apart. And even as she steels herself to finally tell him off after 12 years, the old fireworks are still there.

Things are about to go boom.

Another Amazing Book in the True North Series!!

Sarina Bowen never disappoints. This story had it all. Light suspense, slow burn, passion, steam, and even laughs. The story is realistic and the characters are relatable.
I loved the title and how it worked into the story. I loved Benito and felt giddy at the way he treated Skylar. He was calm yet eager for her and slowly worked his way back into her heart even though he never truly left.
This story was amazing and this entire series is one of my absolute favorites.
The narration was fantastic and kept me fully invested!
Definitely recommend!!

Fireworks shines

I love this audiobook. It’s wonderful. Not only because the book itself is brilliant, but because both narrators do an amazing job. Zachary Webber and Susannah Jones are great as Benito and Skye. Listening to Fireworks is totally worth it.

Fireworks is the sixth installment in the True North series, and it’s as wonderful as the previous five books. It’s a standalone, but I recommend you read the books in order. You won’t regret it, they are all amazing. I love this series so much, and with each new book I love it even more. I sincerely hope Sarina Bowen keeps writing them forever.

This book is a little bit different than the previous books. First of all, the story unfolds both in the present and the past. The past being 12 years ago, when most of the gang were teenagers and in high school. Just so you know, the present is told from Benito’s and Skye’s POV, and the past is told from the third person POV.

Fireworks is the story of Benito Rossi and Skye Copeland. Benito is currently a detective for a special department of the state police, and as such, a member of Vermont’s drug task force. His job is to investigate the drug trafficking business in the state, specifically the flow of the deadly synthetic drug fentanyl. His main suspect is no other than former police officer Jimmy Gage, the bane of his existence. Benito has made it his life’s mission to put him behind bars to rot. He is completely focused is his investigation, until the love of his life reappears 12 long years after leaving without saying goodbye.

An unfortunate and completely unintentional but hilarious incident at work forces Skye to take a two week vacation, time she would rather spend anywhere else other than Vermont, a place she despises with her whole heart. She is returning after 12 years to spend some time with her stepsister Rayanne. But things don’t work out as planned, and after being ditched by Raye, Skye must face Benito again, and deal with her feelings for him. He is a grown man now, hot as hell, and two things remain clear to Skye. One, she’s still in love with him, and two, the feelings of betrayal and hurt are still there.

Once they face each other, they need to clear the air between them to understand what really happened twelve years ago. But at the same time, Benito needs to finish his investigation, and Skye’s sudden reappearance and her connection to Rayanne, Gage’s daughter, complicates everything.

“Even now I feel my world tilt subtly in his direction. Twelve years later and he still has his own gravitational pull.”

I loved Fireworks. First of all, Benito is such a sweetheart. He is tough as nails, sweet, hot and romantic. He’s such a good guy, he might as well be the perfect book boyfriend. Skye has had a very difficult life, and since leaving Vermont with a broken heart, she has made a life for herself in New York. She is driven to succeed, but her aversion to conflict makes it easy for others to take advantage of her. She still carries childhood scars that run deep. She is a loner but lonely, content but not really happy. Her return to Vermont forces her to face her past and discover her true inner strengh.

Sarina Bowen is a masterful storyteller. Her characters are real people with virtues and flaws. I like the way she shapes them in a way that show growth, depth of character and personality.

This story is a bit different than the rest of the series. It has suspence, both in the drug trafficking storyline, and the real reason that drove Skye away. I think the revelation of that particular bit of information is perfect, it may be a little slow for some very eager readers, but it keeps you turning pages like a maniac.

I love this series in a way that may defy logic, but quoting Sarina here, “Love isn’t always logical.” This is such a good addition to the series. Fireworks is pure gold.

Awesome listen

The worst part about this book??... it ended!!! I’m convinced this author doesn’t know how to write anything but 5 ⭐️ reads. I loved Skye. I’m very picky about my heroines because they can be very annoying or weak and Skyr was neither of these. She was naive when it came to certain things but that’s what kept her real. I love this whole series. Do yourself a favor and read everything written by this author, you won’t be disappointed.

Fireworks

This is my most favorite trope Second Chance romance.
I have been intrigued by Benito Rossi since we first met him.

Getting to know Skye, and the history she and Benito share really made me enjoy their story even that much more.
He kind of became her protector back in the day and now he again wants to protect or even when she doesn’t need it. But what I loved was how open Skye was with Ben even though all this times has passed she just innately knew he was someone she could trust just as she did all those years ago.

Communication I always find is the downfall to all these romances. If the characters would just open their mouths so much angst and heartache could have been prevented. But sometimes it’s more than that too its time and circumstance.
What I loved was that no one blamed the other one. What a great way to resolve an issue or a past hurt.
This book was all around just gave the good feels.

Loved the narration I am a huge fan of both these narrators and I just enjoy how they feel like the characters not as though they are just reading the words. If that makes sense.

Her voice...

I feel like the sound and tone of the voice used for Sky made her sound more like a middle aged snobby mom than a 28 year old. It really took away from the story for me.

I wish there would have been more of a wrap up of the series *IF* this is the last book. What is happening to all the other characters and couples?

It would be really nice if romance novels with a male and female narrator would have the men speak for the lead male and the woman speak for the lead female during their dialogues. It takes away from the story when you have to listen to a deep voices man have to inmate a woman’s voice.

Overall, I really did like this installment of the series and I wish there was more.

Love this Series, Zachary Webber Shines

These two are great together - love Skye, love Benny - Skye is remarkably sweet and remarkably well adjusted - given what she's lived with. I loved that they didn't go through long drawn out angst - although their history certainly -provides that backdrop. I love it when people survive horrible people - good job Sarina - ESPECIALLY FOR Zachary Webber - he is a real joy to listen to and to translate your works!
