Summary

We hooked up. I had his baby. He never found out—until now.

Lucca Pixon is the hockey player everyone dreams about being near—and being with. And, yes, I secretly had his baby.

The truth could cost me my career and get him into trouble, too, so the single mom life is how I’ve been surviving. That is, until I’m given an assignment. It looks like Luc has gotten himself into trouble again, and it’s my job to write about it.

The last thing I should do is randomly show up before a hockey game with a baby in a stroller and tell Luc he’s the father.

Spoiler alert: that’s exactly what I do.

Poor quality dialog. Too much “Luc said”, “Emma said”, “I said”, “he said”, “she said”, “Sydra said”, “Julie said”, etc.

Narrators are good when narrating their own character but they make everyone else sound dumb, ditsy, stoned or drunk.

Disappointed, as hockey romances are typically my jam.

Poor quality dialog & characters sound dumb

Liked the main story & some banter but the dialogue description was painful. The supporting characters, just weird but maybe better in their own stories?

The word "said"

Made it as far as the FMC writing her “article”. Couldn’t stand the total BS this woman was writing into her article with the supposed intent of publishing it. She’s supposed to be a trustworthy, honest news person and can’t even tell truth from fiction in her own life? I mean really, “left the mother of his kid high and dry” are you kidding me? You really can’t say that when you didn’t tell him he had a kid! This is an FMC that we’re supposed to be rooting for? This was my first attempt with this author, and frankly, if these are the types of main characters she writes, I don’t think I’ll be trying another one of her books, because the last thing I want to do is take precious time out of my busy life to read about characters like this. I also wasn’t a fan of either narrator. And since I’m nitpicking anyway, what published author actually gets away with using the word “said” more than a dozen times on a single page? In a single conversation? Not for me.
