Publisher's Summary

Number one New York Times best seller

You deserve to stop suffering because of what other people have done to you.

Have you ever felt stuck in a cycle of unresolved pain, playing offenses over and over in your mind? You know you can't go on living like this, but you don't know what to do next. Lysa TerKeurst has wrestled through this journey. But in surprising ways, she’s discovered how to let go of bound-up resentment and overcome the resistance to forgiving people who aren’t willing to make things right.

With deep empathy, therapeutic insight, and rich Bible teaching coming out of more than 1,000 hours of theological study, Lysa will help you:

  • Learn how to move on when the other person refuses to change and never says they're sorry.
  • Walk through a step-by-step process to free yourself from the hurt of your past and feel less offended today.
  • Discover what the Bible really says about forgiveness and the peace that comes from living it out right now.
  • Identify what's stealing trust and vulnerability from your relationships so you can believe there is still good ahead.
  • Disempower the triggers hijacking your emotions by embracing the two necessary parts

Wonderful Wisdom

The first chapter of this book really brings out raw feeling and emotion, I feel like Lysa was speaking directly to me. This book mentions a lot about God and being religious, myself I am more of a spiritual person, but could still relate to the messages. After listening to it once I could for sure say that I disagree or am not at the point of being where she talks about being mindfully. I screamed back at the book at some points to point out my shear distaste for what she was saying. That doesn't mean she is wrong. That only tells me I have alot more room to grow and will for sure be listening to this book more than once or twice. I can literally see/feel myself changing day to day internally. Not reacting as I once did to certain things or situations. I would recommend this book.

A realistic, compassionate guide

I wish I also had the paper version but I enjoyed hearing Lysa's voice of compassion and understanding reading her story and studies. There are other books on Biblical forgiveness which contain similar Biblical principles, but few if any wrapped with the vulnerability, humility, compassion and understanding that Lysa offers. The "how to" aspect carries a lot of weight since the author has so recently walked this difficult road and personally wrestled so deeply with these issues.

When I started listening to her story, I wanted you to shut up

I paid for a book that wallow in her story. I’m so tired of authors, thinking that their story will make some huge difference in other peoples lives and it’s just plain old dribble.

Way to religious

I am a religious person but reference to the God and the Bible every few sentences really takes away from the learnings. Not happy I wasted my money on this.

For Christians

If you are a Christian this might be for you. If you are looking for an opinion this might be for you. One persons story who explains why it takes a little more work than letting Jesus take the wheel. Boring. Really wanted to like this book.
