Description

A solid addition but…
I have read the In Death series since it’s first release, and have always enjoyed them. But I just have such a hard time with the narration of them. Nothing against the narrator herself, but it just doesn’t match up with Dallas or Peabody.
They are both young women, and the narrator sounds like a 50 year old woman. It doesn’t jive with the feel of them. The authors quirky way of presenting how these characters speak and react in a future New York, when narrated, makes it a little cringy. Like your mom trying to be cool. And not succeeding.
Otherwise, I liked this story. Even with the missing characters we are so used to having in every book.

Forgotten EXCELLENT
This book does not stop it jumps from one death to another and another. It keeps you thinking and laughing, you do have some things nearly figured out and then switches. i have listened to all Eve Dallas books and they are always fresh.

Better than ever
Sure the stories are awesome. This one breaks out of the typical mold the In Death series takes in subtle and enjoyable ways. But the voice acting and production was engaging and flawless. In earlier productions, you could easily make out redos and patches to mask mistakes. There were none here. But the acting by S. Erickson was brutally emotional and sucks you into that world we love. How she keeps the characters separate I’ll never know. Even characters we haven’t heard of in a while; you perk up as you think - hey that’s [enter name here]. It’s marvellous! Thank you for that.

Forgotten in Death
Nobody stays forgotten once they come to Eve Dallas’ attention. A homeless lady and a pregnant student are found fairly near each other. Construction magnates’ families are implicated. Eve and Roark are front and centre in this mystery with APA Rio in a supporting role. Susan Erickson is an essential part of the series as she ties the books together with her voice. But if you have listened to or read this 53rd book, you won’t have to be persuaded. No doubt you pre-ordered it.

J D Robb just keeps going strong
J. D. Robb writes gritty futuristic mysteries. The relationship with Lt. Eve Dallas and Rourk is complex and always interesting.

Good book
I liked this one, it was a bit different from other entries in the series, since it has multiple concurrent investigations

Narrator
The storyline was fairly good but I didn’t enjoy Susan Ericksen’s narration. I remember how much I didn’t enjoy her from past audibles in the Death series and from now on will only read JD Robb’s books. Eve and Rourke are the only characters who sounded normal and interesting. Most other characters sounded too loud and harsh due to Ericksen’s constant over-emphasizing every second word. I especially didn’t enjoy her rendition of Peabody. She has made Peabody,as in past audibles, sound slow and unintelligent and really not suitable to be as quick and clever as she should be considering her position.
Very disappointing since I really enjoy the Death series and hoped for a better outcome.
