Story
Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease challenges conventional cardiology by posing a compelling, revolutionary idea—that we can, in fact, abolish the heart disease epidemic in this country by changing our diets. Drawing on the groundbreaking results of his twenty-year nutritional study, Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn, Jr., a former surgeon, researcher, and clinician at the Cleveland Clinic, convincingly argues that a plant-based, oil-free diet can not only prevent and stop the progression of heart disease, but also reverse its effects.

Current medical wisdom advises that anyone suffering from diabetes or prediabetes should eat a low-carbohydrate, high-fat diet. But in this revolutionary audiobook, Cyrus Khambatta, PhD, and Robby Barbaro, MPH, rely on a century of research to show that advice is misguided. While it may improve short-term blood glucose control, such a diet also increases the long-term risk for chronic diseases like cancer, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, chronic kidney disease, and fatty liver disease. The revolutionary solution is to eat a low-fat plant-based whole-food diet.

Publisher's Summary
The #1 New York Times bestseller answers: What if one simple change could save you from heart disease, diabetes, and cancer?
For decades, that question has fascinated a small circle of impassioned doctors and researchers - and now, their life-changing research is making headlines in the hit documentary Forks Over Knives. Their answer? Eat a whole-foods, plant-based diet - it could save your life.
It may overturn most of the diet advice you’ve heard - but the experts behind Forks Over Knives aren’t afraid to make waves. In his book Prevent and Reverse Heart Disease, Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn explained that eating meat, dairy, and oils injures the lining of our blood vessels, causing heart disease, heart attack, or stroke. In The China Study, Dr. Colin Campbell revealed how cancer and other diseases skyrocket when eating meat and dairy is the norm - and plummet when a traditional plant-based diet persists. And more and more experts are adding their voices to the cause: There is nothing else you can do for your health that can match the benefits of a plant-based diet.
Now, as Forks Over Knives is introducing more people than ever before to the plant-based way to health, this accessible audio guide provides the information you need to adopt and maintain a plant-based diet. Narrated by listener favorite Brian Arens, this audio edition comes with a supplementary PDF that includes 96 recipes from 25 champions of plant-based dining - from Blueberry Oat Breakfast Muffins and Sunny Orange Yam Bisque to Garlic Rosemary Polenta and Raspberry-Pear Crisp - delicious, healthy, and for every meal, every day.
PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

Life Changing
The simple truths in this book are like a beacon of hope amid what initially, to me, seemed a hopeless situation..
After a diagnosis of heart disease , border-line diabetes and the beginning stages of kidney disease, this book and the advise set out by Gene Stone, Dr Campbell and Dr Esselstyn, has completely transformed my outlook on my life... in only 4 weeks of adhering to the suggestions ..With the support of a medical GP in my town, I have been sticking strictly to a whole foods plant based fruit and veg and whole grain diet, I have so far, re-discovered energy I haven't had in 20 years, brought my Blood Pressure down to normal, making it possible to reduce my meds by half...my glucose is back to normal and ( so far) I have lost 18 lbs (mostly fluid retention from an over taxed heart trying to cope with my previous high fat , high sodium lifestyle ...
This is no fad diet... Far from it... Its a complete lifestyle overhaul.. There are really no words to express my gratitude for the informed enlightened collaborative sharing there 3 men have brought to the Western world.. Its a 2 thumbs up from me
