Publisher's Summary

From New York Times best-selling author Sylvain Reynard comes the first novel in the Gabriel's Inferno series, a haunting, unforgettable tale of one man’s salvation and one woman’s sensual awakening - now a film from Passionflix!

Enigmatic and sexy, Professor Gabriel Emerson is a well-respected Dante specialist by day, but by night he devotes himself to an uninhibited life of pleasure. He uses his notorious good looks and sophisticated charm to gratify his every whim, but is secretly tortured by his dark past and consumed by the profound belief that he is beyond all hope of redemption.

When the sweet and innocent Julia Mitchell enrolls as his graduate student, his attraction and mysterious connection to her not only jeopardizes his career, but sends him on a journey in which his past and his present collide.

An intriguing and sinful exploration of seduction, forbidden love, and redemption, Gabriel’s Inferno is a captivating and wildly passionate tale of one man’s escape from his own personal hell as he tries to earn the impossible - forgiveness and love.

The perfect romance

This is one of the best romantic stories I’ve ever read and had become a go to listen, not just this book but the whole series.
The literary references add depth to the story but you don’t have to be an English major or a Dante specialist to enjoy them.
I own the hard copy of the series as well, I enjoyed the story so much I wanted to listen to them on #Audible1 . After all the only thing better than reading a book is having it read to you.

drags on and unrealistic

Not worth reading to the greatly anticipated ending, which was terribly dissapionting, and out-of-touch. All steam had dissipated, and

Love this series

I discovered the first two books several years ago and periodically reread them as I enjoyed the story and characters so much. Now after seeing the Passionflix movies, I’m looking forward to listening to the books again and discovering books 3 and 4, which I have not read yet.

Too long for what it accomplishes

While this is a good story and I love that it follows and fits well within the Divine Comedy/Dante's work, the pacing was too slow. The same depth of information could have been achieved in fewer hours/pages.

wouldn't recommend..

I'm unsure if I will ever finish it tbh.. the narrators voice is amazing and melodic and you can typically tell when a character change has happened thankfully.. i would read a dozen books by this mans voice if I'm being honest lol..that being said I've made it over half way through and cant do it anymore, I find that the female character is too childlike, weak and honestly very snoopy and judgemental.. it gets worse as time goes on.. the male character is the stereotypical dark sinner guy which is fine if you like controlling, overbearing people.. the authors perspective makes this couples relationship seem yes very stereotypical, good innocent angel and bad sinner guy together also making it very sweet.. but as I went on I couldn't help but squirm about it.. so many red flags in this relationship.. so many abusive and concerning traits.. they shouldn't be together for more than academic and professional reasons.. everything about it gets more and more messed up..
overly jealous, paranoid, dependency, illusions, control issues, him saying she can say no but when she says she's unsure, instead of backing away for a minute he taunts her with kisses.. like what? .. idk everything about this has set me off a bit.. i love the story and the connection to Dantes inferno, I love the developed speech and writing styles and I didnt mind the stereotypes even though the girl was driving me crazy.. but constantly hearing the same words being said, the same problems coming to light and forever seeing all these flags and watching as she just allows them to keep coming (not unlike most abuse victims) and accepts them as they are (mind you constantly judging and pushing things herself) .. im just not able to comfortably sit through it anymore. I will keep trying to listen here and there until the end only because I hope there's a change but I'm unsure if I'll get there..
definately some good and some bad here.. one I would try for the sake of trying but would not recommend nor would I read(listen) to it again
