Publisher's Summary

Borderline Personality Disorder. "What the hell was that?" raged Rachel Reiland when she read the diagnosis written in her medical chart. As the 29-year-old accountant, wife, and mother of young children would soon discover, it was the diagnosis that finally explained her explosive anger, manipulative behaviors, and self-destructive episodes - including bouts of anorexia, substance abuse, and sexual promiscuity. With astonishing honesty, Reiland's memoir reveals what mental illness feels like and looks like from the inside, and how healing from such a devastating disease is possible through intensive therapy and the support of loved ones.

A hard listen, but worth it.

This was one of the hardest things I've had to listen too as my partner struggles with BPD. This will make you both Happy, sad, and angry, but will shed some needed light onto this misunderstood mental injury.

I enjoyed the voice actor as she did change her tone and inflection for different characters, a good performance all over and a decent rendition of emotion. She was able to capture the "anger" portion and depression perfectly.

Our family has been working on learning as much as we can about BPD and this is by far the most passionate view of how the disorder effects a person through their own eyes and perspective. I recommend this to anyone who suffers from BPD or has a family member who does.

amazing book

This book made me feel so many emotions.
I have not read a book yet that I could relate more than this one.
It talks about what really goes on inside the mind of someone with BPD.
I even shared it with my son so he could understand mr better.

Fully finished

As someone who had a very different experience with such similar issues this wasn’t easy to read and there are many things that I would love to get into but I don’t feel like writing an essay because it would take a long time to get out what I need to. Ultimately the best review I could give anyone is that it’s a good read if you want to understand borderline personality disorder, but like the author stated in the end her circumstances and story are/is unique. She had a good support system and financial supports that most still don’t have, but when one doesn’t constantly have to worry about survival, life can improve.
I was overall pretty glad I read it.

Is this me they are talking about?

The book was ME! slight difference but all in all Me. I cried through most of it recognizing my own inner struggles and as much as worked through alot of my own struggles I was stuck repeating same patters of abuse. I feel I know why and have seeked professional help. I was diagnosed at 18 with BPD and told good luck and sent on my way but at 57 I have never gotten the help I so desperately needed and like the book I have had similar sufferings so thankfully In read/listened this book and feeling like there is hope that I too can see a light at the end of my tunnel.
