Publisher's Summary
When 26-year-old Reese accepts a position as a grad assistant, she has no idea an unpleasant encounter with a student will lead to the discovery of what she calls "the trifecta": fine, intellectual, and a little bit rude - three qualities she finds irresistible in a man. She has no intention of doing anything with that discovery - nothing long term, at least. But everybody knows what happens to best laid plans.
Jason is a grown man. Twenty-eight years old, seasoned, and scarred by his real-life experience in the world, he's at Blakewood State University to finish his degree and move on. The last thing he's interested in is the female population on campus...but sexy, infuriating Reese might be a notable exception.
This isn't a story of opposites attract.
More like counterparts clash.
Neither of them is afraid to do battle, and neither is willing to back down. Love and war, win or lose...somebody's gonna end up getting schooled.
Contains mature themes.

Cute but wasn’t blown away
This was my first ever Christina C. Jones book after wanting to try her for so long!!! I’m an audiobook lover and so happy when she took the plunge in audio format because I stalked and preordered this one.
The story follows Reese, a teacher’s assistant to her professor mom and a military vet student Jason, that start out a little enemies to lovers.
I think the book and the characters were super cute and adorable. It’s obvious Ms. Jones likes heroes a little rough around the edges and Jason was definitely that instead of her partner bound boyfriend. My favorite thing of the whole romance was that Jason was a military vet that was physically disabled. He had lost part of his leg serving the country and wore a prosthetic and it was just normalized, and not stigmatized like a lot of instances disability is mentioned. My only complaint sometimes was how Reese would make a comment or two like, a man with a prosthetic not supposed to do me that good. It felt ableist and just rubbed me the wrong way but she wasn’t uncomfortable with it nor did she feel sorry for him. That eased my mind about it so that I could just enjoy the romance.
Overall I loved the banter and their back and forth teasing and how respectful he was but I’ll admit I wasn’t blown away by their arc. I didn’t have that feeling when a couple separates for a short period of time and has that grand gesture trying to prove their perfect for each other. It was just more realistic which was nice but sometimes I like a fantasy😭
Either way I’m glad I read. The book turned me into an instant fan!

Great Book
I read this book a while back and I really liked it. I love Christina C. Jones' books, so I was more than happy to support her audible debut! I also love the narrators... they did narration on a lot of Alexandria House's books, so I knew before I purchased the book that it would be a great performance. I like that the two main characters, Jason and Reese, were up front and played little games (apart from the beginning "cat/mouse" game). When they realized they wanted one another, they went after what they wanted. I loved that.
Happy Listening! XOXO.

Refreshing. Comical. Relatable
The characters performances are refreshing throughout the book. I especially enjoyed the hints of comical moments tucked within the story line. The highlight of the book is Cristina C. Jones touching on real life topics such as a disable vet fighting his way to normalcy; loss of a loved one; mental health, dating over 50, and seeing from more than one generation set of eyes. Overall, I would encourage both reading and listening to a well though out piece of work.

Two thumbs down
I wanted to love this book, but I did not. The narrators made it worse, they irritated me. It was almost painful to listen to the female narrator try to speak as a man and vice versa. Adenrele Ojo sounded as if she was wining for almost the entire book. I’ve listened to her in other books and can’t recall her sounding this bad. She sounded as if she was acting out an over-dramatic soap opera. I just couldn’t with this book. Two thumbs down!

Short & Sweet
I usually listen to the longer books but I thoroughly enjoyed this shorter story, very refreshing. I like that it’s not too heavy with the drama, while not boring at the same time. The Narrators were great and are two of my faves.

Fantastic
I didn’t think I could love a author more. It’s refreshing to read about regular people with regular lives with problems like everyone else fighting through their issues to love!
