Publisher's Summary
"...the events in Glass House challenge Gamache's conscience unlike any of the previous audiobooks, with Bathurst prying open the hero's heart and soul and laying it bare for listeners to experience at a visceral level." — Audiofile Magazine
AN AUGUST 2017 LibraryReads PICK!
When a mysterious figure appears in Three Pines one cold November day, Armand Gamache and the rest of the villagers are at first curious. Then wary. Through rain and sleet, the figure stands unmoving, staring ahead.
From the moment its shadow falls over the village, Gamache, now Chief Superintendent of the Sûreté du Québec, suspects the creature has deep roots and a dark purpose. Yet he does nothing. What can he do? Only watch and wait. And hope his mounting fears are not realized.
But when the figure vanishes overnight and a body is discovered, it falls to Gamache to discover if a debt has been paid or levied.
Months later, on a steamy July day as the trial for the accused begins in Montréal, Chief Superintendent Gamache continues to struggle with actions he set in motion that bitter November, from which there is no going back. More than the accused is on trial. Gamache’s own conscience is standing in judgment.
In Glass Houses, her latest utterly gripping audiobook, number-one New York Times bestselling author Louise Penny shatters the conventions of the crime novel to explore what Gandhi called the court of conscience. A court that supersedes all others.

Wrong Narrator
I enjoyed this story but really struggled with the narration. This series would be much better if performed by a bilingual narrator.

Another winner by Louise Penny!
I’d taken a long break from reading because nothing seemed to be interesting enough for me to finish—until the Inspector Gamache series. Thank you for creating a cast of characters that stay with me long after finishing the book. This was also my first audio book ever, Robert Bathurst did a spectacular job. Now I might have to explore new titles, thanks to this fantastic team!

good story
loved the story, just found it a bit difficult to follow at times. The jumping between settings had me momentarily confused occasionally.

Glass Houses
Originally I didn't like this book. It confused me and I couldn't follow the story. So a couple of weeks later I read it again, the same thing happened... I could not follow the story! By this time I became immersed in audio books and I was able to follow the court case, the core characters, and the overall theme of the book. I love Louise Penny's books!

Not sure it was going to work
I love Louise Penny and the Gamache series, I feel that I know the characters intimately and the village. It reminds me of a village in Quebec that we love. The twists and turns are amazing. I didn’t enjoy this book at first, but in the end I found it emotional. Looking forward to the next one.

Sense and sensibility
Again Gamaches brilliance is second to none. Many new emotions uncovered. In particular with the old poet Ruth Zardo.
