It is 1779, and Claire and Jamie are at last reunited with their daughter, Brianna, her husband, Roger, and their children on Fraser’s Ridge. Having the family together is a dream the Frasers had thought impossible.
Yet, even in the North Carolina backcountry, the effects of war are being felt. Tensions in the Colonies are great, and local feelings run hot enough to boil Hell’s teakettle. Jamie knows loyalties among his tenants are split, and it won’t be long until the war is on his doorstep.

Wonderful Addition to the Epic Series
Loved it as usual with all of the Outlander books I became totally engrossed and found it flew by too quickly. I most certainly will re listen again, after re reading the rest of the series, and perhaps while waiting for the next season of the show to resume.

Audible reading method
Davina Porter is wonderful, she brings the characters to life. I prefer audible books as I do not have the inclination to sit for hours reading. I can listen as I do other tasks.

Good as always
As good as the other volumes. Like the previous ones, however, the author stays around a character for a long time and we wonder what is happening with the other characters during this same time and that would be just as interesting and important in the story. Ms. Porter doesn't seem to fixate on William's voice, it's funny sometimes, but she's so talented. The end is rather abrupt it surprised me.

I love this whole series and this book continues the great story! I love hearing all the characters add tot his amazing story - Diana Gabaldon is an amazing writer and Davida Porter is so talented for the narrator! Treat yourself to this wonderful story

Best.Ever! Totally engaging
I do appreciate Diana Gabaldon’s writing. The stories, the characters, the creation of the environment and historical context. As a Quaker and someone who has recently been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, I especially enjoyed some of the details. Although I’ve read the series 6-7 times, this is the first as an audiobook, so I also appreciated the reader.
