When Maxie Sullivan finds herself in dire straits, the only man she can turn to is the one she's always secretly loved: her childhood best friend. Can they trust their hearts and make a future, or will their complicated pasts stand in the way?

Lucas & Maxi

I really liked this storyline. Loved Lucas & Maxi together! The sexy times were molten hot!!!! So happy that they ended up together like they always should have been. Things were a little rocky at times but it all worked out.
Another great book in this series!

Abruptly just ends! What?!?

This was a great little story but was wayyyy too short. And I’m not not meaning “it’s so good I don’t was this to end”…. I mean it literally just ended in a mad rush. Done. Over. No epilogue. Nothing. It’s as if the author was just tired of the book and wrote a few more paragraphs to end it. I kept looking at the time left and thinking “There is no way this book can be wrapped up in 15 minutes!” I was right. It wasn’t.
Don’t get me wrong, we get the HEA (I guess). It’s just so poorly done at the end. Way too rushed!!!!! Shame.

Second Chance

A story to cry about and a chance to fall in love again. Their lives took a bit of a side road but they did find each other. I am loving these men, strong with a soft side. The narrator was very good.

Quick and easy listen

Maxie is moving on from the death of her emotionally abusive and neglectful husband. Who just happens to be the brother of her best friend and love of her live. Lucas is helping Maxie to start life over after he finds out that his brother left her destitute and dishonored because of his shady dealings.

I really felt for Maxie and Lucas because they had obvious carried strong feelings for each other for quite some time. But Lucas's brother was incredibly selfish; he never cared about Maxie but only used her to hurt Lucas. They were forced to keep distant from one and other because of him.

This was my first from Carly Phillips without Erika Wilde. Won't be my last. Very easy to follow and not too dragged about. I like Sophie Eastlake performance. It's very direct.

Standalone or Part of a Series

Great standalone but also part of a series book. You don't need to listen to the series to understand though. Another great storyline with twists and unexpected moments

Loved It!!

If you could sum up Going Down Fast in three words, what would they be?

This is my first book by Carly Phillips and I can truly say I loved it. I'm also pretty new to audio books but this one I finished in one sitting the story line and Sophie Eastlake's narration just hooked me immediately.

Lucas and Maxie were childhood best friends. When Lucas leaves for college he returns to find Maxie married but that doesn't stop the love they feel for each other and years later when Maxie really needs someone he's the one person she turns too. Will they be able to overcome the hurt from their pasts and will it finally enable them be together?

Definitely a book I will be recommending and I'll also be going back and reading Going Down Easy (Billionaire Bad Boys 1)
