Publisher's Summary
This brilliant novel by Newbery Medal winner Rebecca Stead explores multiple perspectives on the bonds and limits of friendship.
Bridge is an accident survivor who's wondering why she's still alive. Emily has new curves and an almost-boyfriend who wants a certain kind of picture. Tabitha sees through everybody's games - or so she tells the world. The three girls are best friends with one rule: no fighting. Can it get them through seventh grade?
This year everything is different for Sherm Russo as he gets to know Bridge Barsamian. What does it mean to fall for a girl - as a friend?
On Valentine's Day an unnamed high school girl struggles with a betrayal. How long can she hide in plain sight?
Each memorable character navigates the challenges of love and change in this captivating novel.
What the critics say
"...Stead's writing [is]...filled with humor, delightful coincidences.... An immensely satisfying addition for Stead's many fans." ( School Library Journal starred review)
"...[Stead] captures the stomach-churning moments of a misstep or an unplanned betrayal and reworks these events with grace, humor, and polish into possibilities for kindness and redemption. Superb." ( Kirkus Reviews starred review)

Awesome!
It helped understand the book more than usual. The voices helped me pay more attention instead of my mind going else where.

Boring
This story was unremarkable. The secondary story line and strange points of view were unnecessary and annoying. I wouldn't recommend this one at all.

A book I want my daughters to read.
This book does an excellent job of guiding the reader through what does and does not make a healthy relationship. It also has a lovely outlook on how young people should view themselves and their bodies with an assertive hint to adults and schools about how to handle the confusion that strikes middle and high schoolers without damaging delicate hearts. I hope my 13 and 16 year old daughters will read this book! #relationships #teens #teenhealth #families #tagsgiving #sweepstakes

This is a cute and warm hearted contemporary Tale
Not a Realistic Fiction Reader, but this represented most girls and boys in middle school and the awkwardness that we have all experienced along the way. Cute, Warm Hearted and most of all, honest

What the heck?
The story was cute, but the ending was awful the two characters never kissed or got together which made me sad. I hope there is a future book where the characters do get together.
