Publisher's Summary

Welcome to humanity’s new war: silent, high stakes, and unseen. This is a life-or-death mission for ONI’s black-ops team, Kilo-Five, which is tasked with preventing the ruthless Elites, once the military leaders of the Covenant, from regrouping and threatening humankind again.

What began as a routine dirty-tricks operation - keeping the Elites busy with their own insurrection - turns into a desperate bid to extract one member of Kilo-Five from the seething heart of an alien civil war. But troubles never come singly for Kilo-Five. Colonial terrorism is once again surfacing on one of the worlds that survived the war against the Covenant, and the man behind it is much more than just a name to Spartan-010.

Meanwhile, the treasure trove of Forerunner technology recovered from the shield world of Onyx is being put to work while a kidnapped Elite plots vengeance on the humans he fears will bring his people to the brink of destruction.

Surprisingly good

Well narrated, the story was quite a bit different than I expected going in. More of a political thriller than wartime.

amazing addition to halo canon

this book was great in written form but provided much more if an impact in audio form. Euan Morton is a wonderful narrator and never leaves you feeling bored. the book itself along with the other two in the trilogy are just amazing reads. The books take you in depth to the Halo Universe and leaves you wanting more by the end of the book. would highly recommend this and the other two books in the trilogy to any fan of the Halo Universe. #audible1

Sith Lady

Would you listen to Halo: The Thursday War again? Why?

Yes I would. I will do it to pick up all the little story threads that lead off into possible future story archs and those that fill in gaps about the back stories of several characters.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Admiral Perengowski in particular piqued my interest. She is as bad as any Sith Lord that ever graced the pages of Karen's other novels. Karen dealt with the Elites nobility as well as anyone. They are truly noble within their culture and in battle.

Which character – as performed by Euan Morton – was your favorite?

Admiral Perengowski, easily!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I get upset by the constant use of "chinconi"! Next time how about a coversation with a GI before you record! It's CinC ONI (SINK ONI)! It is Commander in Chief, and is not an Italian word. I grate my teeth everytime he uses it. After 20 years of service, I find that I'm not so flexible on the lexicon.

Any additional comments?

Quietly awaiting the next installment in the series. I could use a timelime to help bring things together for me.

The Second Act

Great second act to the Kilo series. Traviss is still at the top of her game with this story. It leaves you at an important place in the story and leaves you wanting more.

The narrator does a great job of further breathing life into the characters and keeping the story going. Can't wait to see what comes next.

I cannot recommend this book enough ;)

Karen Traviss is amazing at creating stories centered around soldiers/warriors. Euan Morton excels at bringing the characters to life whether they’re male, female, or alien.
