Publisher's Summary

Even a demigoddess must have a weakness.

On the run from the coven she used to call home, Harley Merlin knows that Katherine’s power and influence are spreading like a poison. And she has no doubt that Katherine will follow through with her promise to torture and kill her friends, one by one.

Then Harley discovers that the key to her enemy’s undoing might be hiding in a familiar place - her parents' grimoire. With Finch, Wade, and Garrett by her side, Harley vows to steal Hester and Hiram’s final gift.

Liar. Rebel. Jail breaker. Why not add "thief" to the list?

Meanwhile, Jacob senses trouble brewing in the San Diego Coven, with their friends imprisoned and Levi’s thirst for power spiraling out of control. Amid the chaos, the magical detector is on the verge of completion, and Jacob meets a human girl who makes his heart race. But Katherine has plans for him. Oh yes, does she have plans....

Very disappointed

The author really submitted a poor story. the entire story was only about 40 chapters and left me feeling short-changed. the story contained few magical fight scenes that we're of interest. the whole point if this book was to set up the final book.

Amazing book full of twists and turns!

I absolutely love this series it's so full of switches and twist and. turns you never know what you will get. the charechters are so well writen you can tell when someone starts acting funny or somethings wrong.

I also love the narrator, for me the narrator either makes or breaks the story. she does such a good job with all the different voices for all the different characters.

Can't wait for the rest of them.

Really enjoyed this series when I first started it

It just keeps going on and on and on! I want to get to the END! It's infuriating that Catherine continues to gain the upper hand over and over and over and over! It's annoyingly disappointing!

More Filler Than Plot Progression

I’ve enjoyed these books and the characters have been well written. However, this book did not seem necessary in the whole scheme. There was a lot of unnecessary exposition and too many pointless scenes.

Dual Perspectives

Not sure if I really like that the chapters change from Harley’s point of view to Jacob’s. I can understand why, but it’s not the same. The book is called “Harley Merlin.” So, it should stick to her. Plus, I don’t care about Jacobs love life or that he’s looking at boobs.

Loved this book

I didn't feel like I was force listening to this book. It flowed rymthmictly for me. There were some surprises I didn't see coming but enjoyed nevertheless.

Harley sucks.

Start off by saying I love these books and can’t wait to get to the ending. But oh my god... Harley Merlin is THE worst protagonist I’ve ever seen. She’s written horribly. Everyone else is much more interesting and I find myself rooting for the villains anytime Harley is around. She just gets powers. She didn’t earn them or work hard for them. She just gets them. Also, anybody who disagrees with her is automatically a villain. And everybody just agrees with her. Even the smart and relatable characters get dumbed down just to satisfy her needs. She’s a horribly written protagonist. Also the author clearly doesn’t know how to write strong woman without it seeming forced. The narrator does such a phenomenal job that I can look past a lot besides Harley.

Just gets better and better......

Love these books. The details and story line are so detailed and heartbreaking but awesome at the time.

Aggravation at every turn

Poor plot progression, unexplainable plot twists for the sake of drawing out a 5 book series to 9 books. Will not waste more credits on the last 2 books. I’ve had it with this one. Emma Jean is Katherine? It’s not even a clever twist, it’s just stupid. All to draw out the final confrontations.

Very disappointed

Each book you hope the characters will grow and mature and do things differently but they do not and they keep failing . The villain continues to get stronger and winning. I feel like the end will be a weak win and no realistic

The narrator is very good .

blah, blah, Katherine wins. blah. blah

It's turned into a formula story. Katherine plots, Katherine kills, Katherine wins, everyone else is mad about it. The author finally confirms Katherine is Imogene. Big surprise. The magical detector works and Katherine stole it. Who didn't see that coming? I suggest skipping to the next book. Maybe it will be better.
