In the ice, east of the Black Rock, there is a hole into which broken children are thrown. Yaz's people call it the Pit of the Missing, and now it is drawing her in as she has always known it would. To resist the cold, to endure the months of night when even the air itself begins to freeze, requires a special breed. Variation is dangerous, difference is fatal. And Yaz is not the same.

The galaxy remembers Hadrian Marlowe as a hero: the man who burned every last alien Cielcin from the sky. They remember him as a monster: the devil who destroyed a sun, casually annihilating four billion human lives - even the emperor himself - against Imperial orders. But Hadrian was not a hero. I loved this series so much!
I am sad to leave the world of Abeth and I will miss the characters. I'll have to restart the series again in a couple years. I can be picky with fantasy books, especially ones you find on audible since the quality of self published books is so variable. But this one does not disappoint.

An Excellent Conclusion to the Series
The story is split between 2 different periods of time: 3 Years Ago and Present Day. When the perspective would switch, I was on the edge of my seating eager for when the perspective would switch back. Obviously, the pacing of the story was great. You also learn a lot more about the world of Abeth. Enough that most of my questions about it were answered. The ending was very satisfying.
Once again, Heather O'Neill was fantastic as the narrator.
