I grew up with Ghibli films and howls moving castle was my favorite one by far. I am so glad I finally got to listen to the book it was based on.

My socks have been charmed off

I watched the Miyazaki film, first, and I didn’t think the book would have the same captivating whimsy, but it did. The details that the book add are perfect, and I fell in love with the characters even more. Also, the story is so creative, and the narrator is very good. I definitely flew through this book in a day.

Suprising till the end!

I absolutely loved listening to this recording of Howl's Moving Castle. It is a well-loved anime and felt that I was able to see all of the characters in my mind as I listened this book. Although Studio Ghibli had made many changes I feel like the ones that they did did not take away from this wonderful book. I give this a 10 out of 10 and would read again. The only thing that I didn't like very much was the readers voice for Howel.

the great character voices and explanation of appearance

I actually watched the movie before I knew it was a book, I so often like to read before watching. having done things the other way around I was extremely surprised at just how much I stayed at attention. when I would fall asleep I would always rewind (and have crazy dreams) it did take me roughly a week or so to make it to the end but I wasn't about to "skim" now that I've finished, I'm not sure what to listen to next 🤷‍♀️🤍

far better than the movie

the books usually are but I didn't realize the movie was based on a book. the characters are so highly developed and it really clarifys some of the peculiarities of the movie.

So Good!

I have watched the movie by Hayao Miyazaki so many times, not realizing that the story is based on a book written in 1986!

I enjoyed it immensely!

This will definitely be a book i listen to every once in a while!

Absolutely loved it. Think pride and prejudice but with magic.

Could see where the story was going to go. But how we got there was a surprise. And a delight. It was light hearted and silly and put a smile on my face. The narrator made me feel like my own mother was reading me stories again.

Absolutely the best decision I’ve made this month, to pick this book up.

Enchanted Brew of Humor Filled Magic

My husband and I are both seniors tired of the violence they call entertainment. I have just started getting back to books and was lucky enough to fine this delightful series and once we started listening to the beautifully read books we found it hard to stop till the end. Can't wait till my great grandson's are old enough to be introduced to this enchanted brew of humor filled magic... I only wish Diana Wynne Jones had had a chance to write many more.

better then the movie

it has little things not in the movie and the fhite seems as well as the big bad are difrent and all the better for it there are some seems from the movie that aren't in there as they where added or changed for theaters and east follow in a movie bit it misses some very importeingt and intriguing things in the book. the book is definly better.
