Publisher's Summary

The only way to escape is to die.

For 18 years I've suffered at the hands of the Hunters. For 18 years they've done their best to break me, to tear me open and unleash the terrifying monster that lives within.

Until the day they go too far.

When a desperate escape leads to another brush with death, I'm forced to place my trust in the hands of four formidable strangers. Wild and untamed, their feral natures call to me, their warrior hearts make mine come alive. And when they offer me a place to stay while I heal, I can't say no.

But the secrets I carry are deadly, and my past is a twisted, evil nightmare better left forgotten.

They may think they want to know me, they may think the secrets they guard behind hard eyes and closed expressions comes close to the ones I keep. But should they ever discover just who they've let into their home, just what I really am...their hatred could be the one thing that finally breaks me. And if I break, the darkness inside me will finally be free.

Contains mature themes.

Definitely not for me

Not sure who this book is written for but it’s not me. Maybe you will like it.

Very Slow

Story does not progress at a decent pace. It feels like the whole first half of the book is solely for inner thoughts and vague backgrounds. I'm still eager to read it though, and still enjoy it. The second book seems to be more much enjoyable.

The narrators have soothing voices. Sometimes a little too soothing, and makes me sleepy. Was already a huge fan of Aiden Snow, though.

One to reread again and again.

I go threw books so quickly and this one done in under a day. I couldn’t seem to put it down, and every chance i had i returned to it. After completing the story i found myself driven to continue, i had to know what came next. I was devastated realizing how knew this book was and that i now need to weight until the next is released. A fantastic listen. The story was awesome and all the narrators left me captivated.

Meh!!!!

Could have been a great story, it really didn’t need to be a trilogy. Leading lady was annoying had me screaming at her the whole time to just get over it… because of that the book became repetitive and whiny. Great narrators though I would listen to them read a menu

Starts well but ultimately disappointing

The story started well, at a good pace but quickly got completely lost in the weeds of the pack’s characters. Disappointingly the original storyline didn’t get developed.

Surprisingly Very Good

I didn't think much of the book when I started but as I went, the story just kept getting more interesting. I like the slow burn of the character development relationship wise.

Not perfect, but enjoyed it

For a debut novel, I found this book quite impressive overall and I enjoyed it quite a bit, but the story definitely has it's flaws. For starters, while I appreciated it's substantial length (love me a good, long book!) and how it took it's time - so much better than feeling rushed - there were moments throughout where I felt the story was 'dragging it's feet', so to speak, and it ocassionally felt too repetitive. I don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that the listener is given thorough insight into the main characters' every thought and feeling, particularly the heroine's. But, as deeply as the book delved into the touchy, feely stuff it really came up short in other areas; like the who's, what's & why's of Hope's monster and the Hunters, for instance. Again, I don't want to give spoilers, but the listener learns nothing about who/what Hope is and virtually nothing about the Hunters either, beyond the fact that they are sadistic and cruel. Obviously, as this is meant to be a trilogy there will be more to come and presumably we will learn more about the Hunters going forward, but only having superficial glimpses into Hope's past made this story feel a bit two dimensional to me. To be perfectly honest, if I hadn't liked the characters as much as I did I doubt I would have been hooked enough by this book to even want to move onto the next one, because their really wasn't enough 'meat on this bone' for me. Too many questions were raised with too few answers given, and too many times the listener was teased with glimpses of past events, without the author expounding on them.....it left me feeling a bit short-changed, to be honest. Fortunately, however, the book brought out all the feels in me and did such a good job of making me care about it's characters that I was willing to overlook it's shortcomings enough to just go with it. I am eager for book two! As for the narration, it was pretty good. I thought the female narrator did a good job with the heroine's character, really imbuing Hope with emotion. But the male narrator,? I liked the sound of his voice just fine, but IMHO, his performance felt flat. He never really managed to bring the characters to life for me. And both of the narrators did a poor job with the accents IMHO, especially the Scottish brogue. I realize that's a difficult accent to get right (I certainly can't do a good one) but if it cannot be done well, I think its better just to avoid it altogether, otherwise it detracts from the overall performance. Of course, that's just my opinion: to each their own. If you are a fan of this genre then I would definitely recommend you give this book a try.

Loved it!

Awesome story and great story tellers for this novel. They brought these characters to life! I was on the shelf about getting an audible for this story worried the narrators wouldnt do it justice...boy was I wrong. If the next novel in these series is done by the same people I will make sure to buy it off audible

Painfully slow.

MC is extremely annoying. She cannot decide if she should speak up or not through out the whole entire book.

***Spoiler****
She is clearly a supernatural but all we know is she has a monster inside her that she is constantly locking up. She doesn’t even know what she is. The most frustrating part is that she eventually learns that the people she is staying with is not human and NEVER!! Says anything.

This book has potential to be good but it just dragged on and on.
