Publisher's Summary

A fresh, hilarious, and relatable collection of essays about everything from motherhood and marriage to sobriety and work-life balance (or imbalance) from the nationally bestselling author of the “honest, complicated” (SheKnows) Idiot.

TRIGGER WARNING: TORN EVERYTHING!

In her first book, Idiot, bestselling author Laura Clery gave us mind-blowingly personal life stories about addiction, toxic relationships, and recovery—establishing herself as the preeminent voice of infinite conviction meets zero impulse control. Here she is two kids later asking, “How did we get here?” Sex. Sex is how we got here.

Laura’s life has changed a great deal since she wrote Idiot, but her hilarious candor has only increased with motherhood—plus she tells some of the stories she was too scared to tell in her first book (which is really saying something). “Full of wit” (Publishers Weekly) and charm, Laura shares more than anyone wanted about:

-Placenta pills, mom brain, and vibrator manifestation
-Nipple-twisting orgies and flinging a butt burrito in your doctor’s face
-ADHD, autism, postpartum depression, and the wisdom of a ninety-eight-year-old sage named Anne
-Unsolicited dick, sexual assault, and sister-drugging
-Cheating, fights, and forgiveness
-Choosing love over fear and healing the world

Laura does not hold back when it comes to sharing stories of screw-ups, triumphs, and learning from her mistakes. Whether she’s crying into a diaper in a Whole Foods parking lot or desperately soliciting advice from a random elderly stranger (who has most certainly considered a restraining order), Laura is able to laugh at herself even during her worst moments—more importantly, she makes us laugh, cry, and feel less alone in the world.

Fascinating

Lots of funny moments. I enjoyed this listen. I liked her messages she was spreading in this book. Just beware if you're listening on earbuds... she yells a bunch of times. I found it hard on the ears.

For Moms Everywhere!

First half was very relatable as a parent and I enjoyed that portion the best. Clery's narrative on the second half was interesting, but didn't grab me or make me laugh like the first half. Worth a listen!

excellent listen!

Such a great listen. Thank you for sharing your story!

While some seemed quite insane on the things that happened to her and didn't resonate with me personally, it really helped me to better understand the mindset of addiction. To allow me to have more compassion and patience.

We have also discovered our family has some neurodivergent tendencies. Now, rather than being so concerned about how the world sees us... We can just focus on how we see the world and how best to help our own children!

Loved it

After listening to Idiot I knew I would enjoy Laura’s second book Idiots. She is funny, entertaining, honest and just digs deep into the real stuff we call life. I love hearing the audio in her own voice…makes it easier to hear the authors thoughts come out with their voice. If you are a Laura Clery fan you will definitely enjoy this book.
She is also so real about autism and brought a different way to look at it. My nephew is autistic and my niece has Asperger’s so hearing Laura’s version was like turning on a lightbulb for me.

Fantastic and SO.DANG.RELATABLE

I want more from LC and Family!
I adore them and how, like Laura said, honest she is and how understanding Stephen is. The book had me at tears, both happy and sad. but also laughing and enticed by what she was saying.
Read read read!!!!!

knocked out of the park

I loved her first book. However, as mom I felt very connected to the author in this book. I love that she shares struggle and does not act like an expert, but talks about what worked for her. Laura you are an amazing mom and I have enjoyed watching you grow in your career. Thanks for sharing your life!

Overall a fun read

It makes you feel a lot better about all the cringy things that we all do that we never talk about. We all have stories we pretend didn’t happen and that are better left forgotten but maybe it’s should start being ok to talk about those. Maybe we wouldn’t judge so much if we all talked about the terrible, sad, cringe, oddly funny and not normal things we all do. No one is normal by any means. This was a good reminder that it’s ok to see things differently and it is ok to be different.
