Great idea, music is too loud

I am very much motivated to move by music and I often listen to music for a workout that I wouldn't listen to for pleasure because I really like the music to have drive the workout. I even listen pretty loud, but there's no voice trying to talk to me at the same time (except for the one in my head that shouts "move! keep going! don't stop!"

But I have a real problem with these audio workouts. I really want to love them because I think it's a great idea, however, the music volume compared to the trainer's voice is just too loud. The voice can be lost in the music. If I turn up the volume to hear more of the voice, I get even louder music. It actually started making me anxious and irritated and I finally just had to turn it off.

Second, I think the fact that they are using music that has lyrics makes this problem worse. The song lyrics clash with the trainer's voice. It might be okay if the music wasn't so loud compared to the trainer's voice but this just isn't a good sound mix for me.

I'm sure there are people who will think the balance of music to trainer's voice is fine, and these audio workouts are for them. But as much as I want to love these and actually could really, really use this right now with my working out, it just doesn't work for me.

That said, I think this is a very useful idea and I did like the guy's voice (though the music made it hard to hear) and I think he's pretty good at motivating and inspiring someone to ride. Just gotta be able to lower the volume of that music a bit!

Who would've thought...

...a virtual coach could be this effective? The course is very well structured, and the instructor keeps the energy and motivation going.
A small criticism: it wasn't clear to me how the classes should advance. If you were to do it consecutively, the progression from a 20-minute spin to a 45-minute spin, in a few weeks, is quite a jump.
So maybe an explanation of the curriculum would be helpful.

Great workouts. Good for a beginner.

I went through each cycling lesson over the course of a few weeks. I found them challenging, and fun. I didn't have any issues with the audio levels, I could hear him clearly every time. The music was okay, nothing to write home about. The lessons start out fairly easy, and seem to get progressive as you go. I really enjoyed them, and look forward to trying out other Aaptiv titles.

confusing resistance

Ed tells me to do a cadence check and I'm ok, then over the next 15min he tells me to add resistance like 10 times so I'm chugging along then he says to do another cadence check and I'm at like 9 while he says to be at like 22-25 knee raises in 15 sec. how the hell do I add resistance that often then keep the cadence? like do I just lightly tap the thing? also he keeps using handle bar positions and I had to Google those. Maybe Ed needs an episode 0 to help noobies like me. but still enjoying it.

An irritating waste of time

The cutesy music is much louder than the speaker and not music anyone would want to listen to anyway.

Great way to mix up your home workouts!

Appreciate a varied approach to indoor cycling that gradually helped me build up to a 45-minute ride. Easy to follow!

Great alternative to spin classes!

I was pleasantly surprised by this series. Usually I find it hard to keep myself motivated for >20 min of cardio, but this keeps me motivated on the bike! I'm used to the flywheel bikes, but for someone who is a complete novice, don't expect this series to give you a detailed introduction to the bike itself. Also, this is not the way for you to learn proper form for a novice. I appreciate the cadence checks bc not all stationary bikes have screens. The instructor is pretty good overall, though he can get repetitive. Music is great.
Overall, worth the download and a try!

It hurts so good

Wow, that was excellent. Motivating, sufficiently entertaining and also quite difficult. I tried pushing myself a little too hard at the beginning but then I learned to do it within my abilities and that made a huge difference. I went back and did several of the classes again and I could tell how much I was improving. The narration is good and not too low in comparison to the music. For me it was perfect.

great and motivating cycle workout!!

I've been curious about indoor cycling. this program made it accessible to try on my own at the bikes available at my local gym. these workouts kick butt, but the trainer is super chill and does a great job getting you through it. go for it!!
