Publisher's Summary
Chemistry is the science that studies the composition and structure of matter and the changes it undergoes. Because everything in the universe is composed of matter, chemistry is the study of our material world. The chemical touches our lives and influences our activities in many ways that are often called the nuclear science.

I Can't Believe I Paid Money for This
What disappointed you about Introduction to Chemistry?
I was less disappointed with the content than with the delivery, but you can't rate below 1 star.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I'll get back to being patient with The Great Courses.
What didn’t you like about Tracy Tupman’s performance?
It sounds like a real human voice, but I find it so hard to believe that the words are spoken by a person whose first language is English. It sounds like a bad computer translation spoken blindly by the narrator.

Not informative
I was hoping for basic information on chemistry, not the history of who discovered what. This did not appeal to me at all.

Tolerable, but mostly pointless
For the price, this book is alright. This introduction to chemistry is very basic. The narration was decent.

awful
I couldn't even get all the way through this. It sounds like a robot reading a poor translation of a poorly written transcript. it is the first thing I have purchased from Audible that I felt I wasted my money on.

Very poor translation
I don't know what language this was translated from, but whoever did it must have used a computer program for the bulk of it or sat with an English dictionary and laboriously looked up many of the words without understanding English grammar. For example: "Given that the old symbols were not easy to write, disfigured the books, and not collaborated anything for your memory. . ." Or, "Then the alpha particles not suffer much substantial deviations would return." Or "The atomic theory of Bohr was published between 1913 and 1915. She was able to explain. . ." The reading is full of awkward translations, some of them not distorting the meaning much, but others leading to confusion. The narrator sounds like an American English speaker, so I don't know why he didn't alert the publisher to the problem. But maybe the narrator is actually a computer generated-voice reading a computer-generated translation. That said, I was still able to garner useful information from the book. About 80% of it is standard English.
