Emotional, Raw and Real

Even if you've never been touched by mental illness, you should read (listen to) this book. It's unique in that the author shares the heartache as well as the triumphs from two different perspectives - a mother and her son. This family moves from denial and guilt towards acceptance and understanding of a truly frightening illness. The narration of these two main characters is exceptional and it helps us understand what happens in the mind of someone experiencing anxiety and depression. It behooves each of us to not only be aware but to reach out when we see the signs that someone is in need of support - including caregivers.
