Excellent

This would be a great book to review before starting a big project or even something on a smaller scale. There are points in the book that I feel help first time directors and directors that are looking to remember what they might've messed up on the first time.

Actually about leadership

Funny. I wasn't looking for a book about directing, but actually there are leadership lessons in here. Also I'm following acting lessons (very amateur, but nevertheless) and it's interesting to hear how top actors prepare for movies.

Helpful information and ideas to keep in mind

As a slowly learning aspiring filmmaker I am always open to learning new concepts and ideas. Some are very technical while others are just simple things to keep in mind on set. This book was helpful for reminding me about what I need to keep in mind while on set working with cast and crew. Some things John mentions are common sense, but can easily get lost in the chaos of a set. Other ideas he mentions are things that I have never heard or put much thought into. He also does a great job of explaining alternative ways around issues and things you may experience on set.

It was helpful and a good listen while going about my days.

A Gold Mine of Information

Whether you are in prep or studying to direct, this is the most practical and thoughtful guide I have come across. From tips that will save you when covering action, guiding performance, breaking down the script and prepping for each step of the process, on top of plenty of entertaining anecdotes, Badham does a tremendous job with a real flair for instructing.

Mr Badham is a great teacher!

As a fan of John Badham the filmmaker since the 1980s, I greatly enjoyed to discover that he is also a wonderful, informative teacher with a nice sense of humor. This book is a must for any aspiring filmmaker, but not just for wannabe directors. There are also some great important lessons here for screenwriters by a guy who has seen it all!

get it.

it's worth a listen. Even if you are not a director producer writer actor, and gives you great insight into being a boss. If you are a director writer producer editor or whatever in the industry, this is a must. very good non-judgmental information on how to get the job done.
