In 1834, Osborne Russell joined an expedition from Boston, which proceeded to the Rocky Mountains to capitalize on the lucrative salmon and fur trade. Beginning at the age of 20, he detailed the life of a trapper in his journal and recorded his adventures through treacherous terrain, encounters with dangerous wildlife, and confrontations with the natives of the Rockies.

Well written.

Well written firsthand accounts of an old time trapper's day to day life. Makes me wish I were in his shoes, but also makes me wonder if I could hack it.

interesting journey

the story is later out as if a timeline and has alot of interesting and unbelievable stories. It is written as if the writer was well educated, well described. The narrator is not monotone, and fits the narrative quite well.
