These are not dramatizations like our Dark Adventure Radio Theatre - rather, this is an audiobook of the original stories, in all-new, never-before-heard recordings made by the HPLHS' own Andrew Leman and Sean Branney exclusively for this collection. This collection spans his entire career from his earliest surviving works of childhood to stories completed shortly before his death. All tales include original music by HPLHS composer Troy Sterling Nies.

Classics, But Hours of Scientific Exposition.
These classic stories, written by a celebrated and time-honored author are extremely wordy, and VERY heavy on scientific exposition. The stories themselves containing only thematic elements would hardly consist of more than one hundred pages each. However, with the reams and reams of scientific data and historical information, the stories drag on for many thousands of pages. I appreciate the knowledge, research, and effort that went into these stories, but there is a line that must be drawn at some point. The narration is adequate, but without much distinction between characters voices, it’s a little hard to follow at times. Overall, a good value for anyone that want to pad their list of classical literature.

An extraordinary collection of the classics
An underwater exploration with the secretive Captain Nemo, a journey into an icelandic volcano, sailing around the world with Phileas Fogg or hijacking a Confederate balloon. These are all worlds and situations you can visit through this Audiobook and immerse yourself in some of the most celebrated fiction books of the literary world.
A wonderful collection of four of the most famous books by legendary author and science-fiction pioneer, Jules Verne. This compilation includes the following titles: Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea, Journey to the Center of The Earth, Around The World in 80 Days, and The Mysterious Island.
These stories are brought to life through Mr. Jim D. Johnstons immaculate narration. His deep voice gives these timeless tales a feeling of antiquity which perfectly matches the tone used in the actual text. While listening to this audiobook collection I was transported into a world of adventure where I felt like I was living the story right next to the characters.
With 43 hours worth of material, this audiobook can take quite some time to finish. However it is well worth it as it includes four of Verne's most popular works all piled into a single playlist. I found listening to this collection especially rewarding while driving, its entertaining without distracting you too much and can turn even the most mundane of situations into one filled with excitement.

Great Collection of Classics for Prolonged Reading
I love that this audiobook contains three classic stories in one. The audiobook provides nearly two day’s worth of content, making it an excellent option for prolonged listening. It is perfect for road trips, daily commuting, or an evening walk or hike. A collection like this is what audiobooks are made for because it allows you to move through it over time and at different paces depending on your needs and abilities.
The stories are very descriptive, and it is easy to create your own imagery from the narration. The narrator brings the stories to life and even changes his voice as he portrays various characters. This book is also an excellent option for children who might not be at this reading level but can understand most of the story. It gives them the opportunity to develop their imagination and vocabulary, all in one. Moreover, it would be a great book to listen to together as a family. Since these stories are classics, there is something for everyone in the family. Younger children listen to it for the first time, while older children and adults hear the stories from a different perspective. It is a great collection of classic stories, and I would recommend the Jules Verne Collection!

Great Classics
The audio was a nice rendition of these stories. The narrator made these stories come to life. I read all these stories many years ago while in school. So it was a big thrill to be able to revisit these classic stories. Recommended to all who would also like to listen to these great books.

Four classic stories in one audiobook. The narrator did a great job bringing the stories to life. If you are a fan of Jules Verne, then this is a perfect way to experience his books. We listened to parts of this during a family road trip and it was a great listen.

Just amazing
I love Jules Verne and his stories alot. Jim D. Johnston was just fantastic at narrating this great collection of beloved classics. I'm really wanting to hear more of his work. My Favorite story is still Journey to the Center of the Earth but Jim made me love 20,000 Leagues a little more.

Great narrator
Great narrator for these classic Jules Verne tales. Sometimes an old book is a monotonous and droning listen. This narrator has the perfect tone and inflection. It seems authentic to the story but understandable with life.

Classic Science Fiction... HEAVY on the Science
Everyone who loves science fiction will be familiar with the name Jules Verne and I was no exception. But somehow I had never gotten around to reading these stories. Then I received this free review copy audiobook and then I had to listen so I could leave this unbiased review.
Wow! Apparently back in the day the science part of Science Fiction really meant something. Each of these stories is almost nothing but a little filler to connect all the science into story format. Not that this is a bad thing as these are truly great classics. It is also interesting to hear what the science of the day was like as compared to what we know today. I really enjoyed the first three stories and even the fourth was good. I liked the heavy science and thought that it enhanced the stories. But if that does not interest you then these books can really drag on. I did find the last book to be a bit of a drag but that was likely because of the 43 continuous hours of this type of story. Taken one at a time they would all be much better. And in the Audible app I could break it down to the individual book and chapter so it would be easy to stop and start as needed. Not all of Audibles books have been like this so I was glad to see that this one was.
The narration was pretty good if a bit monotone. Some character variation but you had to really listen for it. A good voice for this collection.
