Trash Men Who Suck at Everything
I love cars. I like car movies. I was expecting a gay Fast and the Furious and I got a book about a mysoginistic trash bro and his equally mysoginistic meathead broFF sucking at every human thing besides driving a car, and the lack of writing around that is a let down if you like cars.
The offhand comments about "being a woman" or "acting like a woman" whenever the main character has an errant feeling that isn't anger or smugness is annoying, but I rage quit the moment the main character sees a woman driver and looses his mind with disbelief. This is a grown man in the indy race scene. If he's never even heard of a woman driver, he's got medical problems.
I tried for the cars, but even the car stuff was as weak the plot and characterization.

No
The idea for this story is okay. The execution is pretty bad. There is a lot of hypermasculine stuff and misogynistic stuff. A lot of wallowing around in the heads of the MCs and their internalized homophobia and lack of self-awareness. Lots of getting their panties in a twist because their "underground racing scene" is not professional racing and therefore they are being called unprofessional.
The narration is stilted.
I hope that the author and narrator will improve with practice. God knows they are way ahead of me because I would suck at writing a novel and suck at narrating one. But I have to return this because it's really bad.

A solid 3.5 Stars for me!
This book started out slow for me and just when it picks up and starts to get really good.... CLIFFHANGER! I would have love this one if the first 1/2 was a lot shorter and then we got the actually ending in this book instead of the next. Not that I wouldn't still want a book 2, I just don't think it needed to be a complete cliffhanger. That being said.... I really liked Drew and Trent, there friendship was great, there love story sweet and there "sex" (kinda) was pretty hot.
The narration was 50/50 for me, I liked the narration of Drew, but the narration for Trent was a little to dramatic for me. Sometimes it felt like he was yelling at me lol.

I've read the book
I've read the book multiple times and I love it. However, the narrators are terrible and monotone. The man who voiced Drew did put some effort into the role. Lorhaven's voice imitation was severely creepy. Lovely story, terrible narrators.

Corny
The writing...corny, amateur. But, there is something in the work but it didn't come through well. The narrators were...corny. The cadences and tones sounded forced.

gayshaming MM
very good narrators.
the story and plot is good, but the gay-shaming, sexism and youthful writing style is a bit of putting.
gay-shaming eg: "my person" - drew not liking labels.
or: "choosen" sexuality.
sexism eg: "so girly" "be a pussy" or how she describe all the manly men.
youthful eg: "literally..." "hells yeer" or all the constant unnecessary descriptions of how they style their hair, or what they wear.

Fantastic dual narration, good NA story
I’ve had this on my kindle FOREVER it seems. I loved the premise and it’s gotten some good reviews and the whole double GFY is totally my thing. But… it’s long and it’s NA with a large dose of college melodrama thrown in and the romance is slow burn and and and…
What I loved: the dual narration was excellent! I especially loved Guy Locke (who I think voiced Drew’s parts) in this dual POV narrative. I loved the dual POV. We really get to know just what each guy is thinking and that’s wonderful. I loved all the car facts at the beginning of each chapter. Some are interesting some are really funny but they were a nice touch. I loved the secondary characters and the way the entire “family” felt really fleshed out. (This is a spin off from a NA M/F series so the people who’ve read the entire series will see people they recognize. I haven’t read it, but I still felt connected to the characters.) The sensual times are appropriate for an NA novel. They’re in there, but they aren’t the main focus and the “new to being gay” guys don’t just dive in, they are appropriately cautious about expanding their physicality.
What didn’t work for me: The writing. It felt a little too “dramatic”. Too many descriptions were similes and each “moment” was drawn out and there was very little action to keep my attention. Lots of internal dialogs and navel gazing and not much “doing”. This ends on a “cliff hanger” as there is a Part 2 where in our MCs get their HEAs. So, I was psyched I hadn’t read this and been waiting for the next installment or I’d have been pretty frustrated.
Who I think will like this: If you like cars and racing, or football and fraternities, New Adult romances, double GFY/OFY (I think both these guys are gay and in denial, but they call themselves bi in this book), slow burn romances and stories with a lot of “pondering”.
I really enjoyed listening to this, though I think the fact that I was listening to it made me “like” the book less, simply because if I’d been reading I’d have skimmed a bunch and that’s harder to do with an audio book. The narrators voices are great! They do the kids and female characters very well and I liked the way they handled the emotion and the dialog. The sound quality was excellent as well.
Overall, this was good – but not great – as an NA book and fun as an audiobook.

Great Story / Distracting, stilted narration
I really enjoyed the Kindle version of this book, so I was excited when I found that an Audible version was available. I was looking forward to reliving a great story. But, the narration really sucked the joy out of the experience. The narrator who reads the Trent chapters has a rich, pleasant sounding voice that is perfect for the character. Unfortunately, his reading style is awkward and stilted. It reminded me of someone who is just learning to read and sounds out each word carefully instead of letting the words flow naturally in a sentence. It's really a shame because, as I mentioned, the guy who reads Trent has a really nice voice. I can't help but think that the producer really fell down on the job on this recording, which could have been so much better with a little direction. The narrator who reads Drew reads in a much more natural style. But, every other chapter is from Trent's POV, and Drew's narrator can't carry the book on his own.

Don't belive the reviews - this book is rubbish!
I don't understand how this book could legitimately have such good reviews. It's very suspicious.
The writing is appalling. I don't want to waste time explaining why. It's not worth any effort except to warn other members to save their credits and their time. Even as a whispersync, it is not worth the few dollars.
The narration was unremarkable, I though. Given the ludicrous words it was amazing that each line was followed with neither groan nor laugh.
However, I only just now noticed there are two narrators. If the second made an appearance within the first hour, after which I gave up on this crap, I didn't notice any difference between the voices.
