Publisher's Summary

The kids are the least of our worries.

Seriously. If that sounds blasphemous in a book for concerned parents and educators (and anyone, really, who worries about "kids these days"), then I am so glad you're here. If you have a kid, work with a kid, or love a kid, you will find something inspiring in this audiobook. Dare I say, game-changing.

These words were born from the hundreds of stories of kids, their families, and their support systems I was lucky to meet as I worked across Canada and the USA. Regardless of who I met or where I met them, the message was always the same: Our kids are okay only if those of us holding them are okay.

During the developmental years, schools and educators are the most significant connection point to almost every child on this continent. But are the educators okay? I believe that most of the great educators want to make a difference. Many tell me, however, that they are finding it more and more difficult these days to love what they do. I think it's time we did a better job of looking after them first. Plain and simple, this book is for the educators: our teachers, bus drivers, administrators, educational assistants, librarians, administrative assistants, and custodians. And anyone who leads, loves, and supports them.

Plus just for you, I recorded a little bonus chapter filled with thoughts and ideas about the future and our next steps in this journey to create a more connected world.

I am so grateful you are here to listen to these words.

Amazing for parents and educators alike.

As the home bound layoff continued, I gave this one a listen over the last 2 months after spending a lot of time at home with my kiddos. All I can say is I wish I would have taken the advice from my wifey sooner. I've had my share of struggles connecting and understanding my kids sometimes, just as I imagine other parents do. But this book, even though geared more to those in the education profession, really opened my eyes to things I was not realizing when interacting with the kids. Some of the stories she has also really touched my 💓, caugh myself cutting onions 😆 too many times. An amazing listen for educators and parents alike and I love she's from Alberta. 5/5 🎓

Wow Jody

I heard so much about Jody and have seen blips of her on Facebook Live, but this book really blew me away. I get it now. There is so much more for me learn, but this sends me in the right direction. Her voice as the reader is the only way this book makes the impact it does.

Loved this Audio Book

I am not an educator but rather a parent who respects the work of those who spend their days with my kids. I actually didn't even know this book was guided towards educators I just knew if Dr. Jody wrote it it must be good and seeing g as I have struggled with a challanging child of my own thought just maybe I'd learn a thing or two about things I could do better and a parent.

I am so glad I grabbed the audio book to this as hearing Dr. Jody read her own words gave it a whole new dimension. I guess there was a reason my paper copy I purchased is still sitting in my brothers hands only 100kms from me several months after its release, it was so I would go to the audio version instead lol. I loved how she went off the paper at times and was simply true to herself. Dr. Jody thank you for being real to who you are!

I will take the words from this reading and just add them to my repitoure as I strive to be the best mama I can be and help guide not only my own children but all that I have the honor to encounter as a parent.

i say this is a great book for all who want to understand some little things we can do to help make this one amazing world for our children, it take a village to raise a child so lets all work together on this!

Beyond grateful...

I can’t begin to put into words how appreciative I am of Dr. Jody Carrington and this book. I do not know her, and I am not a teacher, but I found a sense of relief hearing her describe the many methods we can use to help kids regulate. I put it into practice the other day with my 5 year old and it was a game-changer! Following her guidance, adding in a bit of the mom knowledge of my child, and bam...meltdown curbed and peace resumed.
To the good doctor herself - thank you for sharing for wisdom and being so authentic! I can see why your words, and who you are as a person, have made you such a magnet to those seeking a better way to support our “sweet babes” in this world.
