Publisher's Summary

From the New York Times best-selling author of Return of the King comes the story of LeBron James' incredible transformation from basketball star to sports and business mogul.

With eight straight trips to the NBA Finals, LeBron James has proven himself one of the greatest basketball players of all time. And like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan before him, LeBron has also become a global brand and businessman who has altered the way professional athletes think about their value, maximize their leverage, and use their voice.

LeBron, Inc. tells the story of James' journey down the path to becoming a billionaire sports icon - his successes, his failures, and the lessons both have taught him along the way. With plenty of newsmaking tidbits about his roller coaster last season in Cleveland and high-profile move to the Lakers, LeBron, Inc. shows how James has changed the way most elite athletes manage their careers and how he launched a movement among his peers that may last decades beyond his playing days.

What the critics say

"Windhorst knows himself some LeBron, as he demonstrates here in detailing how a basketball player transformed himself into a shrewd entrepreneur worth well over a billion dollars.... A fascinating look inside the prototype for the new corporate athlete." (Booklist)

Informative, fast and inspiring.

Windhorst does an excellent job of sharing his knowledge, admiration and respect for James and his illustrious career. The book itself is a must read for not only the casual basketball fan, but those who look to better themselves. Lebrons journey is far from over and if we’re lucky, Windhorst will be there to guide us through it.

Good insight into Lebron

I liked that this was done by Windhorst, by many accounts, people know that he's an extension of LeBron's team. He's made a career as a NBA correspondent/insider from his relationship with LeBron and his group. His inside knowledge of knowing LeBron since HS makes him the premier author for this book. I enjoyed this book overall. I even liked that the narrator sounded a bit like Windhorst so I could see him reciting this book himself. There were some really good behind-the-scenes information that I didn't know prior, especially with LeBron and his group trying to get into Hollywood. Overall, it's a good book on how LeBron was formed and what keeps him motivated.

All Business

Well written and informative but I was already tired of it by chapter three; too repetitive, all of the emphasis on the ins and outs of building an empire; if that's what you're into you'll love the book otherwise, avoid it.

Great ride through LeBron's career

Loved it. I took a short break around chapter 5 but I'm glad I came back. Looking forward to seeing how this plays out in real life now.

Great chronology of LeBron's life off the court

Windhorst does a great job at giving detailed history of how LeBron James became so success in his off the court business and after reading this book you will get a better understanding of why LeBron chose the Heat and Lakers when he did in free agency

Great look at the business mind of LeBron

I love basketball and love Windhorst on ESPN and podcasts. Him writing about LeBron as a player, not so interesting. But his business moves I was all in. I breezed thru this book in 1.3 days. Great listen.

Amazing

This book is one of the best business books I’ve ever read. It’s a business biography on Lebron James. Learned so much about the value of ownership and team leadership. This is a book I’ll gift to many friends in the years to come.
