Was this written by an adolescent?

The writing is very immature and lacks the sophistication of a more weathered author who knows how to flesh out characters, the storyline and the action. As well, the reader is obviously not very experienced as he actually read the book (mispronunciations, tripping over words and all) rather than narrate the story. Very disappointing.
