Publisher's Summary
Between his work on the 2014 Audible Audiobook of the Year, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel, and his performance of Classic Love Poems, narrator Richard Armitage (The Hobbit, Hannibal) has quickly become a listener favorite. Now, in this defining performance of Charles Dickens' classic David Copperfield, Armitage lends his unique voice and interpretation, truly inhabiting each character and bringing real energy to the life of one of Dickens' most famous characters.
This epic, exuberant novel is one of the greatest coming-of-age stories in literature, chronicling David Copperfield's extraordinary journey through life as he encounters villains, saviors, eccentrics, and grotesques - including the wicked Mr. Murdstone, stouthearted Peggotty, formidable Betsey Trotwood, impecunious Micawber, and the odious Uriah Heep. Dickens' great novel (based, in part, on his own boyhood and which he described as a "favorite child") is a work filled with life, both comic and tragic.
Listen to Richard Armitage bring Dickens' words to life, and you'll understand why Virginia Woolf called David Copperfield "the most perfect of all the Dickens novels".

Outstanding Narration
This book was the best 35 hours of my summer. I've never been disappointed in anything that Armitage narrates. He is fabulous. And I certainly don't need to endorse Dickens. What a great combination of talent. #Audible1

My new favourite story!
The reading really added to the impact. Very well done. It’s a long story but I’m sad it’s over. A couple of the voices were annoying but that’s because those people were supposed to grate on your nerves. The good people in his life were full of appreciation and uplifting. Very glad I bought and listened to this story.

Riveting!
I have only read a few books by Dickens and that was when I was in high school many years ago. I was amazed at how David Copperfield took over my life! I couldn’t put it down. The story is wonderful and each chapter ends as a page-turner. It is very easy to understand that this book was serialized before it was published as a novel. The characters are unforgettable and the narration by Richard Armitage is perfect. It’s one of those books that leave you with a sense of loss when it is finished.

Great writing. Great reading.
The story is full of wonderful characters and intriguing situations for them to struggle with as life conveys them all forward. Human nature is so well observed. The reader does every character justice, bringing out the depth of feeling, gentle humour and even scrutiny of motives. Loved every minute.

narration is excellent, a monstrous story to undertake listening to while driving but it should last the longest of road trips.
