Publisher's Summary

It: Chapter Two - soon to be a major motion picture in 2019!

Stephen King’s terrifying, classic number one New York Times best seller, “a landmark in American literature” (Chicago Sun-Times) - about seven adults who return to their hometown to confront a nightmare they had first stumbled on as teenagers…an evil without a name: It.

Welcome to Derry, Maine. It’s a small city, a place as hauntingly familiar as your own hometown. Only in Derry the haunting is real.

They were seven teenagers when they first stumbled upon the horror. Now they are grown-up men and women who have gone out into the big world to gain success and happiness. But the promise they made 28 years ago calls them reunite in the same place where, as teenagers, they battled an evil creature that preyed on the city’s children. Now, children are being murdered again, and their repressed memories of that terrifying summer return as they prepare to once again battle the monster lurking in Derry’s sewers.

Readers of Stephen King know that Derry, Maine, is a place with a deep, dark hold on the author. It reappears in many of his books, including Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis, and 11/22/63. But it all starts with It.

“Stephen King’s most mature work.” (St. Petersburg Times)

“It will overwhelm you…to be read in a well-lit room only.” (Los Angeles Times).

What the critics say

"Stephen King's most mature work." (St. Petersburg Times)

"It will overwhelm you...to be read in a well-lit room only." (Los Angeles Times)

"For a book with such a tiny title, Stephen King’s IT is one huge undertaking. It's a good thing actor Steven Weber is on board to perform it... Weber is skilled at wringing all the emotion, evil, and mystery out of King’s book about an ancient evil that haunts a Maine town and the seven childhood friends who band together to destroy it. He delivers a good Maine accent, a malicious clown, several women, and a giant screeching spider-thing." (AudioFile)

Editorial Review

Listen at your own risk: this terrifying horror book will shock even the most seasoned terror lovers with its gruesome and twisted story of a clown that is something so much more sinister.

Stephen King’s It is a dark and horrifying tale of a dangerous alien entity that hides within sewers and feasts on children. With all the staples of a classic Stephen King tale, this story is traumatic, twisted, stuttering, disturbing, and a standout in great American literature. It will get under your skin and will leave you feeling haunted. Originally written in the 1980s, this story is not a new book yet has not lost any of its mysterious powers. It remains a favourite of Stephen King and horror fans alike. The original evil clown has shaped the fears and misgivings of a generation. King’s novel expertly builds tension and fear, enticing you and drawing you in a while, creating suspense and a deep sense of unrest. If you’re a fan of horror books, you won’t be able to pause this gripping and disturbing story. Terrorizing and torturing the characters of the Losers Club, like Ben, Richie, Eddie, Mike, Bill and Bev, and returning twenty-seven years later, the sinister ways of Pennywise the Clown have reached infamous levels of recognition in pop culture. This favourite book of many also inspired a major motion picture ( It and It: Two).

Steven Weber captures all the mood and creepiness needed for this iconic bestseller in his narration of the audiobook adaptation, adding suspense and building mystery in all the right places. He delivers an impeccable performance so compelling that you may not want to listen to this one alone at night. Weber brings the town of Derry, Maine, to life and immediately inflicts it with the deep horror of the King’s creation, making this one of the King’s best audiobooks. The two make an ideal pair, creating a horrifying experience that you’ll immediately get stuck into. Whether this is your first time experiencing this great book or you are a long-time fan, the It audiobook is a perfect addition to your Audible wishlist.
