Beautiful, Engaging Novel

I enjoyed this book very much and ended up listening for hours because I wanted more. I sure got a lot of housework done as I listened. I like this author and will read more of his books. I appreciate that audible allows me to return books I am not enjoying as it gives me the freedom to discover new authors William Kent Krueger.

Engages the reader on a deep level

This novel describes the travails of a young set of brothers and the strife that may arise within a small community shaken by the ravages of death. It is a poignant reflection on the end of human life and the grief that can alter our otherwise stable and predictable reality.

Boring

I liked the little boys but this book was boring. It was very obvious who did it, which was the point I guess. It was just boring and genuinely uninteresting IMO.

Wonderful story

Reminds us of the frailty of the human existence and the power of God's unfailing love.

Perfect narration - exquisite coming of age story

This is the first book I've read of author William Kent Krueger. I'm happy to have read it on Audible, because it seems made to be listened to, and the delivery of the narrator (Rich Orlow) really suits the story.

The setting is vividly described and the characters are clearly drawn. The author has real skill in eliciting empathy from the reader. I became invested in 13 year old Frank Drum (the main character) and all of his family. In particular, I felt real respect and admiration for his preacher father.

The language is simple, clear and beautiful.

There is an interview with the author at the very end. I urge you to listen to it, because it will provide insight and further perspectives.

The author has stated that Ordinary Grace is the "best thing" he has ever written; "everything I know about storytelling" went into this book.

A very powerful story from a skilled author. Thank you, William Kent Krueger!

Could not get past chapter 1

Narrative is monotone, could not stand it. Neither could my husband. Sounded mechanical - like it was a computer generated voice

Best book I’ve read in a long time.

Well worth the listen. Never drags voice performance is outstanding. All voices are very realistic touching but not sappy. Highly recommend.
