Story
A terrible darkness has fallen upon Jacob Weisz’s beloved Germany. The Nazi regime, under the leadership of Adolf Hitler, has surged to power and now hold Germany by the throat. All non-Aryans - especially Jews like Jacob and his family - are treated like dogs. When tragedy strikes during one terrible night of violence, Jacob flees and joins rebel forces working to undermine the regime. But after a raid goes horribly wrong, Jacob finds himself in a living nightmare - trapped in a crowded, stinking car on the train to the Auschwitz death camp.

Publisher's Summary
New York Times bestselling author Joel C. Rosenberg returns with a high-stakes political thriller set in Russia.
Everything he learned to protect the president, he must use to take out theirs.
With an American president distracted by growing tensions in North Korea and Iran, an ominous new threat is emerging in Moscow. A czar is rising in the Kremlin, a Russian president feverishly consolidating power, silencing his opposition, and plotting a brazen and lightning-fast military strike that could rupture the NATO alliance and bring Washington and Moscow to the brink of nuclear war. But in his blind spot is the former U.S. Secret Service agent, Marcus Ryker, trained to protect but ready to kill to save his country.

Tom Clancy-esq - the good and the bad
Rosenberg writes a great story. Fast pacing, excellent character development and lots of gun play and hero stuff. Just like Tom Clancy. But just like Mr. Clancy (and those that still write under his name), Rosenberg's main protagonist seemingly has superpowers (there's like a 10:1 kill ratio throughout the book) and by the end the protagonist's plans come to a successful predictable (though satisfying!) end. So in so long as you want to suspend your disbelief re: what is humanly possible, it's an entertaining/fun book. I thought the narrator did a superb job.

Thank you, Audible
Audible offered this book as a special sale item. If it were not for that, I’m sure I never would have come across it. I found this book to be brilliant. The exciting twists and turns keep coming, one after the other. I can hardly wait to begin book 2 of the series.

I was raptly into the story
Rosenberg gave himself to much research, and provided a work of fiction with an element of realisim. I enjoyed the story, even from the perspective of the two protagonists. Their paths ultimately crossing led to the final moment, story's climax.
