Publisher's Summary

I almost didn't publish Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It. I was terrified. Here I was, a CEO who'd fallen apart after his company failed, writing a book about how loving himself saved him. I thought I'd be a laughing stock and my career would be finished.

But I stepped through the fears and shared my truth with the world. What happened next changed my life.

The book went viral. Amazing people all over shared it online and on social media. They bought copies for friends and family. They wrote heartfelt reviews. For some, this book literally saved their lives. For others, it was the first time they ever loved themselves.

To think how close I was to giving into my fears. An important life lesson.

Many listeners reached out and showed me how they'd applied it. They asked questions. This taught me that, despite its success, what I'd shared wasn't enough. To create lasting impact, I had to go deeper and share a lot more. I owed it to this book. I owed it to everyone who would listen to it.

So, seven years after I first put it out, here it is. All the questions I received, resolved. My intention is that by the time you finish, not only will you be committed to loving yourself, you’ll know exactly how to do it. And most importantly, how to make it last.

This version, although it contains the original, is significantly expanded - over four times as big. And from all the feedback I’ve received, much more helpful in a practical way. I hope it serves you well.

Avoid This One

Struggle to finish. Repeated "I love myself" for most of the book, that's really all it is.

sublime message that can change lives

One of the things people often forget is that to love someone else and the world you first have to love yourself, it's like a foundation for everything. We experience world through our brain, our consciousness, we feel and perceive other people the same way. All these images exist within us, and guess how would they look when we're embittered or filled with conditional love and respect ("I will appreciate myself only when ...")? Every opportunity then looks intimidating, all encounters are viewed as threats. This simple messege of Kamal can change your whole perspective when put into practise! I see it as a great foundation for a strong, composed personality. Put this into practise and make yourself a favor. Small book - large impact, fewer words - more action!

Amazing

I'm a very shy person and this is helping me break out of my shell. I found tears coming to my eyes while reciting some of Kamal Ravikant's practices. We all need a little more love in our lives who better to provide that than ourselves. Thank you Kamal.

Needed for the millenial

Millenials NEED to listen to/read this book. We suffer enough. Time to heal. As a black man and a millenial, I understand all too well what it means to hate oneself. I have always equated loving oneself with narcissim. I was wrong completely. On a completely different note, I notice that the tools he explained to use are the same exact tools I've used, to quit drinking and smoking 4 years ago. The same exact tools.

The repetition works because while a drinking stoner, I would often tell myself "I hate drinking and smoking". Every single day even if I was drinking and smoking. Like Kamal said, eventually it sticks...

Thank you for this Kamal. I was stuck in a self defeating purgatory, seeking validation from everyone else all while not understanding why I was so angry and lonely. It was simply because I didn't love self. I want to love everyone else, yet I couldn't because I wasn't finished redefining myself after quitting the alcohol and the smoking. I've since pinpointed my issues with self and will be applying every single thing you've stated. Even the ones I already knew. This book will be shared along with everything I've learned. Love, Steven.

It's ok. quick read.

I think it's a good book especially for people that haven't read many other books yet that go deeper into the topic. its basically a short and easy simple summary scratching the surface of a bunch of other books like Biology of Belief, the secret, E-Cubed, a new earth... etc.

life changing solutions should be easy

I am not sure why someone would give this book (essay) less than 5 stars.

I am a health coach. When I work with my clients, almost without a fail, I trace the onset of their health issues to a lack of self-love and gratitude for what they already have in their lives. While diet and lifestyle play a huge role in our health, our attitude toward ourselves can render even the best of our efforts useless.

When we transform this area of their lives, without a fail, we're able to get rid of even the incurable diseases.

Solutions to most complicated problems in our lives SHOULD BE EASY and common sense. This book fits that profile.

Thank you for writing it, Kamal!

Decent

Would definitely not pay 20 for this book, but if you need some reassurance, it's a decent read. Not sure all the hype around it, nothing he says is truly life changing, but reiteration. The idea that repetition can lead to truth. Remind yourself each day why you love yourself.

C

not terrible, but nothing earth-shattering either. Kind of reminded me of a less-gushy version of Louise Hay's Mirror Work ("I love and appreciate myself" bla bla bla). I'm sure you'll experience something if you do it. For $3, why not?

Largely useless fluff

Repeat "I love myself" 2 billion times. The rest is just to boost word count.

IF only Kamal shared his written vow

I read the reviews, some raves, some rants. For me, I was drawn to the cover. I have been struggling with many things including illness and working it from every angle I can imagine. Kamal closes by saying the key is to make your bow and write it down and keep it in front of you, on your desk at all times. What is missing is first of all some depth and proof points, this is no share all about his turn around, just that he had one. And lastly, if it's ok to just make the mantra "I love myself" into a book, at the very least, you could share what your written vow says. Now I know why some people felt compelled to get their money back even though the book is cheep.

Il se laisse écouter.

J'aime beaucoup les exercices de méditation. Ils sont simples. L'histoire l'est aussi en surface. Mais elle est surtout humaine.
