I've been a fan since the series first started and can't recommend this one highly enough. Vlad in a rough spot and over his head. Check. Clever planning to get through. Check. Worthy adversaries. Check. More of Vlad's back story. Check.

With a side twist of frankly stealing songs you'll recognize and tweaking them to work in Vlad's world. Something that surprised me for how much I enjoyed it.
