Blue Bishop has a knack for finding lost things. While growing up in charming small-town Buttonwood, Alabama, she’s happened across lost wallets, jewelry, pets, her wandering neighbor, and sometimes, trouble. No one is more surprised than Blue, however, when she comes across an abandoned newborn baby in the woods, just south of a very special buttonwood tree. Sarah Grace Landreneau Fulton is at a crossroads. She has always tried so hard to do the right thing, but her own mother would disown her if she ever learned half of Sarah Grace’s secrets.

Emme Wynn has wanted nothing more her whole life than to feel like part of a family. Histoire
The Waverleys have always been a curious family, endowed with peculiar gifts that make them outsiders even in their hometown of Bascom, North Carolina. Even their garden has a reputation, famous for its feisty apple tree that bears prophetic fruit, and its edible flowers, imbued with special powers.
Generations of Waverleys tended this garden. Their history was in the soil. But so were their futures.
Together again in the house they grew up in, the Waverley sisters realize they must deal with their common legacy - if they are ever to feel at home in Bascom - or with each other.

Description
"Listeners will be transported to the small Southern town of Wicklow by the drawls and laid-back pacing of the narrators.... This is a beautiful story of family, love, and forgiveness." (AudioFile Magazine, Earphones Award winner)
Heather Webber's Midnight at the Blackbird Cafe is a captivating blend of magical realism, heartwarming romance, and small-town Southern charm.
Nestled in the mountain shadows of Alabama lies the little town of Wicklow. It is here that Anna Kate has returned to bury her beloved Granny Zee, owner of the Blackbird Café.
It was supposed to be a quick trip to close the café and settle her grandmother’s estate, but despite her best intentions to avoid forming ties or even getting to know her father’s side of the family, Anna Kate finds herself inexplicably drawn to the quirky Southern town her mother ran away from so many years ago, and the mysterious blackbird pie everybody can’t stop talking about.
As the truth about her past slowly becomes clear, Anna Kate will need to decide if this lone blackbird will finally be able to take her broken wings and fly.

Feel good story
This was nice story about families and forgiveness, grief and love.
I did enjoy listening although occasionally a bit to campy in parts for my tastes but left you with a nice feeling at the end of the story.

Great for passing the time
I would put this in your bucket for reading when you don't want anything heavy. I listened while cleaning, driving and going for walks. I wouldn't put it in the whimsical bucket but it was an easy listen.
The story involved a young adult finding her place in a family she had never met. Taking over a Cafe from her passed Grandma and finding her place in a town she didn't know.

A pleasant listen
I enjoyed this book, even though I wouldn't call it high literature. It was a good story, gentle, without violence or seriously evil characters. Sort of reminded me.of Maeve Binchy books. Sometimes we need that...kind of like a warm cup of tea, or a nice warm slice of pie...a la mode, of course.
