À propos de cet audio

SOMETHING WICKED WAITS.

When Robin Griffiths embarks upon the restoration of a stained-glass window in a thirteenth-century church, little does she comprehend the stakes involved. The more slivers of glass she pieces together, the more she realizes things are not what they appear to be in the seemingly cozy hamlet of Bilbury.

Piece by piece, sliver by sliver, the window is revealed in all its glory. But will she survive with her sanity intact, or will reawakening the image in the window prove to be her undoing?

Repetitive

This Catherine McCarthy tale follows historian/artisan 'Robin Griffiths' repairing a cursed Stain Glass facade at a medieval church in the English countryside, then investigating macabre circumstances surrounding a series of horrific atrocities over hundreds of years. The pacing is a little plodding, but McCarthy's reimagining of Lovecraftian lore is imaginative and she firmly understands the "creepy".

Less fortunately, reader Mary Phillips is mis-cast for the project. Her performance is creditable - and Dark Matter INK sound engineers provide exemplary technical support - but Ms. Phillips's natural Irish brogue becomes distracting after awhile.. and doesn't really fit the protagonist, anyway.

Altogether, 'Mosaic' merits 6.5 stars out of 10. It was a reasonable distraction for a couple of quiet afternoons as a free 'Plus' selection - but you can find better audiobooks for your Credit, should they ask for one.
