Publisher's Summary

Between training the new town garda and trying to set a wedding date with her fiancé, Macdara Flannery, Siobhán is feeling a bit overwhelmed. She’s looking forward to visiting the new bookshop and curling up with an exciting novel - only to discover the shelves contain nothing but Literature with a capital L. The owner not only refuses to stock romances, mysteries, and science fiction, but won’t even let customers enter his store unless they can quote James Joyce or Sean Hennessey.

Despite the owner deliberately limiting his clientele, he’s hosting a reading and autographing event featuring up-and-coming Irish writers who will be taking up residency in Kilbane for a month. Among them is indie author Deirdre Walsh, who spends more time complaining about the unfairness of the publishing industry and megastar best sellers instead of her own creative works, causing a heated debate among the writers. She seems to have a particular distaste for the novels of Nessa Lamb.

Then Deirdre’s body is found the next day in the back of the store - with pages torn from Nessa’s books stuffed in her mouth. Now, Siobhán must uncover which of Kilbane’s literary guests took Deirdre’s criticisms so personally, they’d engage in foul play....

Something got skipped

I love this series of books and also love the narrator. I do want to say that I feel like there is a chapter missing, the second to last chapter got skipped somehow. I'm not sure how and I went back again to double check and the story definitely skips. Not sure if that was just a glitch on my download, but the chapters are numbered consecutively. I was able to get the idea of what happened but still kind of annoying when it's close to the end. Hopefully they will fix this.

More adventures with familiar characters

I am old friends with the characters as I have “read” the series. It is like visiting old friends and truly enjoyed the story (although not surprising)and narration. My one issue is the recording itself. -a few repeated segments and jumps. That needed to be proofed.

d-r-a-g-g-e-d out and now “inclusive”

story could have been told in half the time - lots of filler and now carlene has caved to social pressure and put an obligatory gay couple in her story and a woman of color too. She checked 2 PC boxes with this one. Their presence in the book as characters doesnt seem natural - it’s abrupt and seems contrived, as if she said to the publisher, “OK, i will throw in some diverse characters”. publisher probably said her books were too colloquial. disappointing in that regard - distractingly obvious.

Another great story

I have really come to love listening to and reading this series. Very typical irish story telling. If there is a poignant or serious part of the story it is usually broken up with levity or a joke. The O'Sullivans have become a real family to me. They are unique and fun.

Love these Irish mysteries!

This was an excellent addition to the series. I love Siobhan and Macdabra, and the O’Sullivan six. The cast of characters widens with a murder at a new book store in town, of all places. There is a new Guarda as well.
This installment has many twists and turns…I had to re-listen to a few parts to keep the facts straight- the mark of a great mystery writer.
As always, Ms. Lennon’s performance is spot on for all the characters, and there are many.
I look forward to the next installment…will there be a wedding…or 2???
Please keep writing. 💕
The only concern in this audio is that several lines are repeated in the production. I thought it was my phone, but it happened several times. An FYI for the editors.

Love O'Sullivans

I love Siobhan and the O'Sullivans. I eagerly await new ones. And, the narrator is excellent.

I love the main characters, but the new ones this book introduce aren't likeable. there were some twists in their, my favorite is probably the murder weapon!
