Publisher's Summary

A mysterious outbreak has spread quickly, ravaging the globe. The illness is debilitating and deadly. Those who suffer from the virus succumb to a horrible death. Unfortunately, it doesn't end there. The infection transforms them into an unstoppable force of mindless killing machines.

At the onset of the epidemic, Nila Carter and her family retreated to her father's cabin in search of safety and seclusion from all that transpired around them. With supplies, fresh water and fertile ground, they were joined by a handful of strangers and positioned themselves for long-term survival.

Despite the losses that each of them suffered, they resolve to stay put and emotionally move forward no matter how long it takes. However, their plan to homestead at the cabin is cut short when they soon realize the world isn't quite as dead as they believed. The infected aren't the only thing to fear.

Narrator is awful

The story is great but the narrator has to go! Lev’s voice, awful! Please put more emotion in your voice. The situation surrounding the story is dire and serious make the voice show it.

Narrator eek!

The first book was narrated by Vanessa Johansen (I think? Also, spelling?)… she was great. This book, the second instalment, I’m finding myself distracted due to the narration. The narrator often sounds robotic, annunciating EVERY SINGLE syllable. Zero emotion. There’s no casual dialect that I find I can connect with- the first book was narrated with a seemingly much higher level of understanding of basic emotion. Lev’s voice is the absolute worst and he legit sounds like a computer virus.

Please make this book this again with a different narrator or the narrator of book 1! She was great- if it ain’t broke, people!

I’m deterred from carrying on with the story because of this reader.

The story overall was fantastic however, the narration is really distracting and honestly, ruining the story for me.

Good book. Will read more of them…

I liked the 1st narrator. I don’t like this one as much. Makes Lev talk way too slow than he ever did. I got through it, I liked book one better overall, I’m hoping book 3 will bring my joy back to this series. But it’s for sure worth a read and it’s easy listening.
