So Much Respect

I did not think I would enjoy this book as much as I did. I listened briefly to Lily when she came out with her first album but never really followed her career after that. I actually only got this book because it was a daily deal for $3. Not living in the UK I had no idea she was the daughter of anyone famous, or that she was constant paparazzi fodder either.

This book was raw and emotional af. I was not expecting her to be that honest or in depth to her life, it definitely was not all sunshine and roses that's for sure.

I have so much more respect for Lily now, and have even got back and listened to her music again with new ears. I also really liked her own narration. She does read monotoniously, very dry as the Brits tend to do I think, but she still captured my attention then entire time.

What a life she has lived !

I didn’t know anything about Lilly Allen before I listened to this book. I randomly chose it because I liked the cover, her voice in the preview and I enjoy hearing about people’s lives.

What a life she has lived! What a journey.
I am blow away by all she has lived through, learned and how she grew into finding herself.
It’s a very interesting story.

Love You, Lily Allen

This book is completely different than any previous books I've read or listened. Lily had the courage to open totally and present her life, her feelings, her struggle, with honestly and simplicity. It's a very sad and full of emotions book. The performance is touchy, her voice got deep inside and impress me sometimes to tears. I love you Lily!

Poignant, Funny, Brash and Brilliant

A moving read as well as an entertaining one, Lily Allen's not-quite-autobiography is as fresh and brash and unforgettable as the performer herself. Chapters are titled by issues like Sex, Money, and you know, all that minor stuff. Read by Allen herself, the delivery adds to the experience as her voice (which is her fortune, after all) is delightful to listen to, and I defy anyone not to laugh out loud when Allen, admitting she won an award from GQ basically because she wasn't afraid to get her tits out for the photographer, dissolves into giggles.

It's an unsparing look at the life of a woman still young: her thoughts, her experiences, her hopes, and her disappointments, most of all her disappointments with herself. Allen's no bullshit attitude lets no one off lightly, including herself. Throughout the book is as amusing and engrossing as it is honest, and you will almost certainly play it all the way through before starting on so much as a magazine, because there is literally nothing you'd rather be doing than listening to this book.

Name dropping

Disappointed with this title, lots of name dropping, poor narration, waste of my time. I cannot understand the positive reviews.
I will not finish, too bad I cannot return it.

Not my favourite autobiography

I found this book to contain far too much of the author complaining about the challenges of being famous, defending how she got famous and generally whining. So for me large parts of this book were quite unrelateable.
But here were also sections that were really good and stories that definitely deserved to be shared and I like autobiographies narrated by the author.
