Publisher's Summary

Three years ago Toni's five-year-old daughter, Evie, disappeared after leaving school. The police have never been able to find her. There were no witnesses, no CCTV, no trace.

But Toni believes her daughter is alive. And as she begins to silently piece together her memories, the full story of the past begins to reveal itself - and a devastating truth.

Toni's mind is trapped in a world of silence. Her only chance to save herself is to manage the impossible: she must find a way to make herself heard. She must find her daughter.

A compelling, gripping thriller with a breathtaking twist that will keep you awake until the early hours. Perfect for fans of The Girl on the Train, Behind Closed Doors and The Sister.

Passable

In many ways, this is a typical K.L. Slater story: dysfunctional characters revealed to be pathological; a narrative delivered effectively from multiple perspectives in multiple timelines; and drip-drip-drip revelations throughout the story with an unexpected major twist at the conclusion. This one involves a catatonic woman in an Intensive Care Hospital ruminating on the disappearance of a little girl - contemplating past trauma, personal failings, and betrayal. It's well-written, clever, and paced nicely.
Unfortunately, the "shocking reveal" at the climax is heavyhanded.. and the book wasn't as captivating as previous Slater books that I've consumed in the first place. I found my mind wandering frequently and my eyes literally rolled at the way the conclusion was handled ("Are you ready to see the picture?" "Yes" "Are you sure you're ready?" "Yes" "Let's open some curtains so you can see properly. Are you sure you're ready?"🙄)

Slightly subpar narration from Lucy Price-Lewis doubtless contributes to my "disappointed" assessment of the recording. To be sure, her diction, timbre, and cadence are typically commendable.. but her tone is somewhat disinterested on this project for some reason and her voice-acting betrays some truly groanworthy child interpretations.

Altogether, 'Blink' was a reasonable distraction for a couple of snowy afternoons - easily worth the time as a 'Plus' selection. Should they ask for a Credit, however, you could do better than this 6.5/10-star option.

It was oK!

Bought this as a daily deal, and glad I didn’t spend a full credit. It was definitely interesting enough to keep me listening and liked that I couldn’t guess the ending right away. #Audible1

Ok story. Nothing too exciting.

All-around just average. I’m not sad I listen to the book and I probably wouldn’t have missed it if I had hadn’t.

Another great listen

I really enjoyed this mystery books by K.L Slater. She keeps you guessing to the end. Although I must admit I did have this one figured out (most of it) shortly before the reveal. Never the less a very enjoyable listen.

ANOTHER RIVETING TALE!

Once started this authors books are difficult to put down.
There are times, or perhaps I should say character, where I keep asking myself how realistic is the behavior of the individual.
When the character is determined to change something in their life but in fact only does things that continue them further down the same path.
I think something I personally find a bit frustrating is the inability or unwillingness of the character to open up to one another. However, having grown up in England I have to wonder if that , actually I don't even know the word for it, but the English way of stuffing your feelings away instead of airing them isn't at the root of many an issue with these very complex individuals?!
Fabulous stuff though.

Boring

The pace is too slow. The character is weak. So I went to critics to see if the end was good and it seams not. So I quit

Not my favourite from Slayter

I found this story to be predictable and the characters very unlikeable. It had somewhat of a twist in the end, but nothing jaw dropping.

Unbelievable and predictable

I listened to it for free during audible promo. I personally found characters flat and plot twists unbelievable. I must say there are far more talented thriller novelists and even this author has more interesting books. I recommend to skip this one.
