Narrator, too bad

I decided that I would listen to the books chronological order . What a disappointment to have switched narrators, changed the whole experience.

Great Story. Painful Reading.

I really liked the story even though it was a bit far fetched and made America seem invincible.

However, John MacDonald’s performance was so hard to get used to. I honestly thought it was a text to speech version of the audiobook at first. His accents were jarring and took me right out of it every time. The New England accent was almost laughable.

I’m listening to Without Remorse now read by Michael Prichard and it’s like night and day.

Nailbitter

Great story!!! Can't wait to start Executive Orders. Performance was "meh" but if you run it at 1.10x or 1.25x its better.

Text to speech would sound better

Partway through the prologue I can’t take it. The guy reading sounds like a computer voice from the 90’s. My phone’s text to speech sounds better.

I’m going to go check other sources for this title and return it if there’s a better option

Such a shame.

Spoiled by the narration, the first few chapters sounded like a computer voice over, then the New England accents started, they were so awful it was actually funny.

Great story, sadly underwhelming performance

John Macdonald's narration has a very monotone quality and fails to capture the pace of conversation in the book. His narration shines in passages that discuss economics and global politics however. Listening at 1.2-1.5x speed is almost required to help inject a little enthusiasm into his voice. If you are trying to go through the "Ryanverse" books through Audible, you sadly have to sit through John's narration as the book contains huge plot points that affect the following books after Debt of Honor.

The story was great, not as good as the other books but still very enjoyable. Some of the writing will be a bit dry due to some of the plot points relating to "boring" topics like economics. I personally find it very enjoyable but I will admit that there is a bit of irrelevant explanation.

Clancy at his best

Another masterpiece from Clancy. The detail and realism are incredible. The story was hard to turn off and it left you wanting more.
The performance took a while to accept. The voice was monotone at times. It got better as it went and didn’t detract from the content or the book.
A definite recommendation to anyone that enjoys realistic fiction.

Amazing book, terrible Japanese accents

I loved the book, and most of the narration is quite good. Sadly, the Japanese accents are just awful.
