Publisher's Summary

Before the multi-million, runaway bestseller The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown set his razor-sharp research and storytelling skills on the most powerful intelligence organization on earth—the National Security Agency (NSA)—in this thrilling novel, Digital Fortress.

When the National Security Agency’s invincible code-breaking machine encounters a mysterious code it cannot break, the agency calls its head cryptographer, Susan Fletcher, a brilliant, beautiful mathematician. What she uncovers sends shock waves through the corridors of power. The NSA is being held hostage…not by guns or bombs but by a code so complex that if released would cripple U.S. intelligence.

Caught in an accelerating tempest of secrecy and lies, Fletcher battles to save the agency she believes in. Betrayed on all sides, she finds herself fighting not only for her country but for her life. It is a battle for survival—a crucial bid to destroy a creation of inconceivable genius that threatens to obliterate the balance of world power…for all time.

"A disturbing, cutting-edge techno thriller that should galvanize everyone who sends or receives email or even dreams of navigating the Web." —John J. Nance, author of Pandora's Clock, The Last Hostage

Still a great book!

I read this many years ago and loved it. it was great to hear it read to me and, since it I had read it so long ago it was completely new to me! I had forgotten the plot twists. The narrator was excellent! #Audible1

Another Fantastic Performance by Paul Michael

I love Dan Brown and even though I know he always has crazy twists, I am never ready for the creativity he uses to unfold them!
And again, Paul Michael delivers an amazing performance. Four languages, and a plethora of voices, both male and female and it felt like every one of them had their own voice!
Really enjoyable listen!

Great listen !!!

Dan Brown is one of my favorite authors ever. His books always follow the same pattern, a 24 hour roller coaster of thrills and excitement. This book is no different. The characters are simple and brilliant. The plot is non stop twists and turns. If your a fan of any other Dan Brown books you will love this one as well !!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the plot twists and performance

With hindsight I'm shocked with the mixed reviews. Don't hesitate to get this audiobook. I already have the Ludlem series and will likely seek out others by the reader.

long road to the action

had a hard time wanting to listen to the first half of the story. Once the story was set and the excitement had started it was really hard to break away.

note to production: the music at the end really kills the ending of the story. it was almost comical..

Good, but not relevant anymore.

Its a great story for the time it was written, but some of the computer terminology was used incorrectly. and seemed thrown in for effect.

So disappointed

The first 4 chapters are boring backstory with far more detail than needed. When we finally hear about “the problem” our heroine sounds brainless, asking ridiculous questions that are obvious to the reader. I really wanted this to be a good story but I was so bored at this point I couldn’t continue. The narrator was “ok”, but I’ve been spoiled by the really good ones and this story needed a lot of help.

Entertaining.

Very easy to listen to. I don't know if it's my computer/phone, but at the beginning of each chapter, the first couple of words are unrecognizable

Useless plotlines with dumb characters.

75% of this story has no significance. The characters are irrational. The ideas are very dated.
